  1. no; the parties we're talking about are the "elements" parties here in new york. go to www.ravescape.com/elements to find out all the info on the past parties. unfortunately, they don't have the current info for this one - bastards. [This message has been edited by weyes (edited 02-26-2001).]
  2. alice in wonderland, for a lot of reasons, one being that it's the only one in which the main female character doesn't need/depend on/pine for a man. rock on in the new womennium!
  3. first of all, i'm not weird, i'm certifiably insane! and secondypoop, i may be one of the oldest people at raves, but i still get carded at the movies. and you can fold that four ways and tuck that in your rumbleseat!
  4. well, she does live p.a.'s, so some might disqualify her for that, but she changed my life and never lets me down, so space girl.
  5. it's at The Warehouse at 141 east 140th street in the bronx, and you can get there by subway as well as by car. the directions are on the generationxd site.
  6. this is by the same people who did "fire" in july and "water" in november. you can check out their site at www.ravescape.com/elements [This message has been edited by weyes (edited 02-26-2001).]
  7. alright, everybody, this party's gonna kick so much ass it's gonna hurt! i could list the whole lineup, but that takes up too much space. here are who i think are the highlights: space girl x-dream bam bam mike dearborn (but that's just me) well, view the flyer at www.generationxd.com and get in gear, people!
  8. i don't usually talk about my worldview with people because it's a very strong, unpleasant one. i stopped seeing my therapist when she refused to listen to it - she barely even let me get started because she said i was "sick" and "not a person yet." well, i guess that's another story, because she was, and most likely still is, more fucked up than i am. anyway, it's really refreshing to hear that translucent is on my wavelength where my feelings on life are concerned. basically i feel that we are all just biding our time till we die. the reason why freud said that all that matters is love and work is related to my theory: that in order to survive one needs to keep oneself occupied with "happy distractions." so that's my feeling on the meaning of life. and i know it may sound sad, but to me all that happiness is is just a distraction from the sadness that is life. but i'd appreciate it if people wouldn't respond to this post by saying that i'm wrong, etc., etc., because nobody's right. and i thank you guys for this forum, 'cause i can't tell this to anybody else.
  9. hey, everybody, ten minutes late again, today, but i got a raise! *i'm still workin' on the lateness thing, though.
  10. he looks just like all of the rest to me. there's this phenomenon of hip-hop/hood white boys that all look the same. i mean, they have these plain faces, and they put on the same clothes... i'm not just saying that their style and attitudes are the same. i know it sounds weird, but somehow all of their FACES look the same to me, too. does anybody else feel this way? i can't tell these boys apart sometimes. i think this is a problem. anyway, about eminem: he was always repulsive to me until a dream i had recently. we were in a deli and i wanted some of those hostess (?) sno-ball things (i don't like those in reality) but the store was out of the two-pack - they only had a big package of ten or so that would cost $18 or something. eminem and i were shopping and he treated me to them. we went back to the dorm room we shared (i don't know why we'd both be in college) and we both talked about how we wished we had a little refridgerator. he was so sweet to me in that dream that i almost like him now. 11. as long as things are done well, anything goes. it's called progress. think of how many people opposed ALL electronic music not so long ago. pleasurehead, who i don't care for, plays a riff from guns 'n roses' "sweet child o' mine" from time to time, and the crowd goes apeshit. one might say that that doesn't belong, but it sounds great to me. (i'd actually be in love with it if he sampled it, rather than playing it on a cheesy keyboard.) orbital played bon jovi's "you give love a bad name" simultaneously with belinda carlisle's "you make heaven a place on earth" as an intro to "halcyon and on and on" on a live album and, although that doesn't sound so hot in print, it's something so amazing that one has to wonder how they came up with that. bon jovi/belinda carlisle/orbital??? collaboration is one of the better things in music sometimes. didn't your kindergarten teacher tell you guys anything about cooperation?
  12. i have a few things to which i'd like to respond. first of all, i didn't say i'd like to hear new country sampled; i did use glen campbell as an example, after all. but there are still good songs being written in country today, even if you hate the clothes the artists wear and the trailer park stigma that now goes along with it all. but older country definitely has more to offer, and it does have a lot.
  13. country music's clarity and purity of vocal tone, combined with its heartfelt and soulful lyrics make it so perfectly suited to be sampled in trance. i really wish some people'd do this. anybody know of any country samples (and i don't mean house remixes of new country, i'm just talking samples right now.) that've been used? i was just listening to glen campbell singing "and i want you for all time," in "wichita lineman," and it echoed nicely in this late night head. p.s. and i'm serious; for all of the obnoxious people who're just gonna reply that "country sucks," i'm not just writing this 'cause it's 2 in the morning and i'm asleep/stupid/crazy. country kicks ass.
  14. i hear you; i feel that way, too. it's been an awful week. let's pick tomorrow as the beginning of a better _________ (fill in the blank). i don't know what i'd fill in there, but i think i will tomorrow.
  15. that's fucking hot. everybody else, i'm gonna try to get up, but it's already 1:30 a.m. i'm gonna be so tired tomorrow morning. oops, i did it again.
  16. i got reprimanded at work today for always coming in late. i just can't seem to wake up in the morning, though. any suggestions?
  17. my family, bad memories, that from which i'm separated, and, most of all these days, new york.
  18. madonna's number was way too boring to start off the show, and "music" is too boring a song to work with to begin with, anyway. besides, i think madonna should've thrown in the towel a long time ago. and as far as the performances went lastnight, all i can say is that dolly kicked ass!
  19. just its being nominated was insult enough. which songs lost to it? anybody know?
  20. please, sirs, i want some more!
  21. alright, here's why i was confused: percolate means - to cause liquid, powder, or small particles to pass through a porous substance or small holes; filter; sift. but, i think, combined with mr.sick's idea - what's hardcore enough to get through is what's important. kickass. and thanks, mr.sick.
