  5. AND THAT FEELING WAS AT SHINE LAST NIGHT!!! Honesty is my policy...Ive loved house music for almost 20 years now...what made me fall in love with it in the first place was a certain feeling it can create....that feeling seems harder to come by these days...last night that feeling was THERE....Kelvin Andrews and Mark Farina did something special...I heard records I hadnt heard in over ten years as well as records Ive never heard before...I was transported to a time when house music is all I lived for...it was inspiring and the perfect birthday gift.... Congratulations Shine....system is flawless...room looks great and the vibe was magical...I feel lucky to have been there....I'm a believer again!!!! respect to those who know.. OG

  7. Willie?!?!? You're on here too now? now we are really in trouble!! ;D He linked a thread I started as an example of other "offensive" threads. He wrote: Quote from: Satz on October 22, 2005, 11:19:09 AM http://www.cooljunkie.com/forums/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=21286 This is one person's opinion which offends DJ's everywhere who work for a living and at night try to live their passion. Yet right now it has 3261 views and 111 posts.
  8. He said one person's opinion was offensive....I think it is safe to assume he meant mine.. (I could definitely be wrong too though )
  9. Satz...My post is a review of a DJ's set at a club. It later turned into a healthy discussion about the local DJ scene. I think you need to keep in mind that just because YOU may interpret my opinion a certain way, does not mean others do. You may be offended by it, but that doesn't mean "DJ's everywhere" are offended by it. As a matter of fact, there are several DJ's on that thread that agree with it. Maybe you should read my post again, you may find that you are on my side of the discussion. Otherwise, ask yourself why you in particular are offended by it. remember... EVERYONE has to work for a living...
  10. damn! even Wendel is in on this mess!?! bottom line is... I went to Nocturnal last Saturday night. I posted a review of the night (IMHO). This is commonplace on this board. I thought Greg rocked it and deserves a residency. (I think most agree) In my opinion he is one of Miami's finest and should be treated as such. If people want to try to put ME out there...so be it.....if I can help get him the attention he deserves in ANY way, Im doing it...because I beleive in him and his talent. I don't need to and would never come on here and try to defend or say what I've done or haven't done for anyone. That would completely trivialize and devalue the whole thing. I just hope that those that know...KNOW and that is all that matters to me in the end.
  11. More idiotic rantings from the clueless loud mouth... check your facts before you start spewing out stupid accusations, or better yet, just do us all a favor and shut up! I do have a bit of advice for YOU though... LEAVE DENNY OUT OF YOUR BULLSHIT!!! You are making him look bad, and THAT is just bad business..
  12. I agree with your post...the question is what does established mean then? and how do you get there? I played the gigs you are talking about for many years...paying dues I never expected to be a headliner in a major club though... I always understood that the "established" DJs were the ones who played in the big clubs...(in my day it was Danny Tenaglia @ Cheers, David Padilla @ Warsaw, Abel @ 1235, Scott Blackwell @ Backstreets, Ciro Llerena at Casanovas) I looked up to these guys and learned from them and hoped someday I would be the resident at a big club...but I knew that would take time and effort and dedication...and I knew I would have to do plenty of gigs for nothing before I got there...as well as weddings and school dances and whatever other gig I could get... The thing is, it seems as if today people want that instantly, they want the big gig right out of the gate. Unfortunately, it seems its happening at times around here. That is my concern. I am the first one to support new and up and coming talent. I think I have shown that and made it clear that I support my Miami peers. by the way... the reason I started this thread was to say that: STRYKE IS A BAD-ASS DJ THAT DESERVES A RESIDENCY IN THIS TOWN!! but I am glad we also got an interesting (and intelligent) discussion out of it..
  13. hey asshole, it was just an example of a person who og is friends with... please get your head out of your ass before you post... The vast majority of djs have outside jobs.. Maybe 1% dj alone.. Most djs such as Denny make shit loads of money djing, way more than they need to surive, well in the 6 figures, but you need to prepare for life after being a dj.. This is why jr vasquez is old and broke! He didn't prepare! Wow, I find myself in agreement with you here Saleen once again. There has to be a life after its all said and done, I myself burn the candle on both ends and find myself dragging on monday morning. I agree that Greg is a great DJ and nothing short of a gentleman, Nocturnal problem is not the music but it focus on its promotions. With many super clubs surrounding the area the focus must be on click of people. Space will draw people in no matter what, Metro with all ts problems is building their machine. Nocturnal has to build the better trap.. Oscar I guess I would be considered a moonlighting DJ with the desire of being a full time DJ. This town just doesn't pay what it should for it DJ's never mine that I have a very good day job, that allows me the financial freedom to afford my moonlighting.. my 2cents Let me be clear, I would never judge anyone or the choices they make. Everyone has a right to chase their dream however they can. What I am refering to is a viscious circle...DJs in this town are doing gigs for less than the average DJ used to make in this town 10 years ago. Problem is, the clubs revenue HAS increased from 10 years ago. You said it yourself, you're good day job affords you the financial freedom to moonlight as a DJ...but what about the guys who put DJing first? what about the DJs that have day jobs on the side to survive? The Djs that work at a record shop during the day...The DJs that do construction and installs in clubs...The DJs that have another job strictly to pay the bills while they chase their dream...They are the ones being hurt.. The issue is, if you have a stable career that you worked hard to achieve, but you love to DJ on the side, you will never count on DJing for income...This is a club owner's dream! This drives all the DJs salaries down and then there will be even LESS DJs making a career for themselves. There are many DJs in this town that have paid their dues and proven themselves time and time again that are being hurt by this. It devalues the DJs worth. I agree with you and Saleen...the future is always important...and EVERYONE should be mindful of that. I have a family myself and am very conscious of that fact. This is why I worry when I see the (local) industry I love going in a strange directon. DJs should decide what their fees are, and when you are eating from them, you tend to be a lot more picky. Respect to all those that do it for the love!!! (no matter what that means)
  14. It's called arogance to think a moonlighting DJ can't hang! This is why LP owns Space and you spin at Space. It's spelled arrogance...and you've got the market locked down when it comes to that....that is one thing I've never been accused of anyway...once you've cleaned up your nose, ask my man LP where he was at my age
  15. :o I hope the kiddies were taking notes... Its nice to hear someone who KNOWS what they are doing and exactly how to do it..kept the main room open later than ever. All new bombs, mixed and programmed to perfection! I kept thinking..hmmmm its pretty fucking obvious to me that this guy is this club's only hope on Saturday nights...now let's hope they are smart enought to realize it (so far their track record is a bit iffy) anyway...bottom line is: IN A TIME WHERE SCAB DJS ARE RUNNING RAMPANT IN THIS TOWN AND MOONLIGHTING DJS ARE LANDING RESIDENCIES IN "LEGITIMATE" CLUBS....IT SURE IS NICE TO HEAR A PRO ROCK A ROOM PROPERLY!!! respect, OG
  16. WOW...great booking! SHINING! good job guys... much respect to the Godfather..a true legend (and genuinely good person) he is not to be missed

  19. SPACE!!!! Let's do this 8) It's that time of the month again and Im READY. I was actually in town last night. I was planning to go out because I rarely get to go out in town anymore (or at all for that matter) I wanted to check out a few of my buddies who were playing last night. Next thing I know, it was 3am, and I was still going through new music. I must have gone through at least 60 tunes producers have sent me via the internet and like 100 cds Ive gotten in the mail...It was worth it staying in because now I'm chock-full-o-bombs for tonight.. I am playing open to close so you guys know the deal... My new CD will be released Oct. 18 and this will be the first date of my "Made In Miami" tour. The tour will take me all over the US as well as dates in Brazil, Russia, Egypt and the UK (confirmed so far) So wherever I go, I take Miami with me!!! I hope to see you guys out tonight...there is no place I'd rather play.. BE THERE OR BE [] much love, OG THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!
  20. Password is 'I am the DJ'. I'm sleeping with the DJ may also work. What I usually do when I get to the velvet ropes is: walk up to doorman with cell phone to my ear... pretend I am having a conversation... then I yell into the phone: "HELL YEAH I SUCK TOES!!!!" I'm in.. works every time...at every club... ;D
  21. hmmmm...I would like to go...but not sure...lots going on...I may drop in early...is there a password?
  22. Great fucking flyer!!! top notch
