  3. Erick Morillo at Ice is absolutely not to be missed.
  4. What time did you drive by, like 9:30? I was at Ice on Saturday, and I assure you, it wasn't dead.
  5. Thank you, I appreciate that.
  6. I would prefer to see a company like Crobar open a club in Las Vegas. Their club in Miami is excellent.
  7. The DJ on the patio on Tuesdays is Faarsheed. He can also be found on the patio at Tangerine on Wednesdays, and in the main room at Ice on Saturdays. He is one of Vegas' best DJs, IMO. For more info., check out www.faarsheed.com.
  8. The Velvet Lounge was one of the best nightspots this town has had in the last eight years that I have lived here. The joint that is replacing it, Tao, should be cool as well, if they ever open.
  9. Ice is the place to be on Saturdays.
  10. Wednesday night I finally made it up to Mix, the new lounge atop THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. Jonathan Neil was in town for CES, so I had the perfect occasion to check out on of Vegas' newest hotspots. You start out by entering a glass-walled elevator on the first floor of THEhotel. As you ascend the tower, the city comes into view, giving you a hint of what awaits you upon stepping off the elevator on the "64th" floor. I remain confused as to why Vegas hotels feel the need to inflate the floor number for rooftop clubs, but I digress. Upon stepping off of the elevator, you are immediately thrust into one of Las Vegas' most beautiful nightspots. Think futuristic, Jetsons-style decor, but with darker colors. This place simply oozes class. The exterior walls are floor-to-ceiling glass, offering a panoramic view of Las Vegas, including the best view of the Strip I have yet seen. I know this phrase has become almost cliche at this point, but I have seen the Strip from every angle, from every rooftop club in this town, and let me tell you, this is the best view yet. The patio, while not large, offers ample seating, and an unobstructed view even if you are sitting down. The designers of this venue definitely realized the view is one of the stars of this town, and take advantage of it to maximum effect. The staff is both attractive and friendly, as well as attentive. Upon returning with my change after a little over five minutes after paying for a drink order, the server apologized for taking so long. In a situation like this, when the venue is busy, I don't expect the server to try for the world speed record in returning with my change, but it was a nice, thoughtful touch, and I appreciated it. I was also pleased with the musical selection for the evening. It is nice to hear house music once again becoming fashionable in Las Vegas clubs and lounges. For the dedicated among us, it was never out of fashion, but for the people in charge to rekindle their appreciation for house music, that is definitely a welcome development. The verdict is that Mix has a very bright future ahead of it. The venue is white hot right now, having been featured in a pictorial in magazines such as Player, and it's star can only burn brighter from here. With the recent opening of the accompanying restaurant of the same name, helmed by French culinary legend Alain Ducasse, Mix will be a Vegas mainstay for a long time to come.
  11. Yeah, right up there with September 11th, no doubt. Newsweek did a pictorial of the tsunami this week, and some of the pics they have, such as people running as the wave is coming onshore in Phuket, are just unbelievable. They have a pic of a guy holding up a pic of his nine month old daughter, and if anyone has seen her to call him. So depressing.
  12. Amika is across the street from Crobar, and one block up. It was in the same building as my hotel that I stayed in when I was out there in November, so I stopped in. It's a cool little club.
  13. Hmmm...Sander on the terrace would be great, but I don't know about going while PVD is downstairs. Definitely not a PVD fan at all, but I know he has a lot of fans, and the place will be uber-packed.
  14. I'll be going to Pure on Friday, and am looking forward to it. I have a question though: which sound system did they install in there? I heard it was Turbosound. If true, I would say that's a mistake, especially when companies such as Funktion One or Phazon would have been more than happy to install an outstanding system. I hope they didn't cut corners on the sound system, especially considering the club cost something like $14 million to build. I hope I am not disappointed by the sound, when from what I can tell, the venue itself appears to be a huge hit.
  15. And if so, how was it? How is the venue?
  16. Tangerine is definitely worth stopping by. It's a great little place. They have mainstream music inside, and house music outside on the patio. Good looking crowd, and good drinks. The staff are nice as well.
  17. The filming is for the upcoming Spike TV show "The Club". They were filming last Saturday when I was there, and it wasn't a big deal, just a bunch of guys running around with TV cameras on their shoulders filming everything in sight.

  19. Every place in Vegas has a dress code. Do not, I repeat DO NOT show up there with a pair of sneakers on. Dress well. Ice is relatively lenient, but not that lenient. Trust me, you do not want to suffer the hassle and embarrassment of being turned away at the door because you're not dressed well enough. The doormen make the call of whether or not you get in, so don't take your chances. Ice is a good time. It would suck if you couldn't get in.
  20. Is there a guest list available for Rehab?
  21. So what is the price of a cabana for Rehab that Sunday?
  22. Tabu is probably the best lounge in Vegas, IMO. I had a good time when I went there. Good tunes, great staff and good drinks. And the venue itself is spectacular. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Vegas and looking for a top notch lounge experience.
