  1. It's too bad that Spirit does not bring in quality talent on a consistent basis. Sure they've had guys like Satoshi Tomiie, Hector Romero, and PVD; but when they also have shit like a Jessica Simpson CD release party and Louie DeVito, they kinda lose some of their credibility as a place where people can go to hear good music. That's kinda unfortunate, b/c the venue itself is pretty nice. If Spirit had the kind of DJ lineup that Avalon has had lately, it would be one of the best clubs in the city. Oh well. At least I know where NOT to go this weekend.
  2. Could you please do us all a favor and STFU already!!! Your fucking political views have nothing to do w/ topic of the thread. Go post this bullshit someplace else.
  3. Ok, allow me to clarify. I was talking specifically about the U.S. support of Israel in this case. Israel is our only friend in the Middle East; If we were to turn our backs on them, then we are effectively giving in to the Arab nations who support terrorism against Israel and massive chaos would result. By helping Israel, the U.S. has helped itself to create a buffer zone between terrorists and the U.S. So what I meant was that if you don't support our cause w/ regard to Israel and terrorism, then you really need to start questioning your values as an American citizen. I'm done talking politics for the day.
  4. When are you going to stop w/ this political bullshit? If you don't support America's foreign policies, then get out of here! If you knew what the fuck you were talking about you'd know that Bush is pushing for Israel to accept a Palestinian state. So go brush up on your current events before you start talking shit ok? And learn to spell INDEPENDENCE correctly while you're at it.
  5. Go pregame @ Doc Holliday's in the E. Village. $2 Pabst Blue Ribbons means you'll only have to spend about $10 to get a nice buzz going.....LOL!!!
  6. I also listen to Metromix radio quite a bit. http://www.metromixradio.com There are streaming audio recording programs that are available for like $12 which let you record into MP3 format which is pretty cool also.
  7. I only listen to Louie DeVito and DJ Skribble mix CDs. Ok, here's what's really worth checking out: 1. Saeed & Palash - Addictive Beats 2. Renaissance Presents Everybody - Sander Kleinenberg 3. Benny Benassi - Hypnotica BTW, Mask: Have you listened to S&D's first Northen Exposure CD? One of the best trance CDs I've heard.
  8. I'd rather be freezing cold than sweating my ass off at somewhere like Avalon where you can only dance for like 20 mins at a time b/c you feel like you're gonna pass out if you go any longer. And as for glow sticks; who fuckin cares!!! If you wanna wave them around, fine. Knock yourself out. I go to have a good time w/ my friends, not to spend half the night criticizing what everyone else is doing.
  9. Damn, lots of hate towads Oakie on this forum. Ok, so maybe he won't play any marathon sets, but I still respect all that he's done for EDM in the way of producing/remixing and that he generally plays a good selection of tracks when he's live. When Tiesto played @ Avalon, his set was pretty short, but everyone still loves the guy....
  10. Although I'm not a big fan of his, George Acosta is a trance DJ who will be spinning @ Spirit on July 2nd.
  11. Well he was just @ Crobar a couple weeks ago. I haven't heard of any future confirmed dates just yet, but hopefully he'll be around again fairly soon.
  12. Welcome to CP bro. You should also check Sander Kleinenberg, Satoshi Tomiie, and Hector Romero when you get a chance.
  13. Well my friend has tickets to Oakenfold, so I'm probably gonna be @ Avalon on the 2nd. Seems that it's the cool thing to rip on Oakie these days, but I happen to like his track selection, so I'll be in the house for this one.
  14. I would give Avalon a shot. Their dress code is pretty lax unless it's late and the place is full.
  15. Oops; thought you meant Friday @ Disco. No idea what Sunday will be like....
  16. Like the advertisement for Junior's party says, "It gets straighter later." I'd go check it out.
  17. Jay-Z sucks. Hip hop in general pretty much sucks these days. Everything is about money and hoes. Artists lack the creativity and the ability to develop rhymes that actually have some meaning to them. Just look at rap videos these days. Practically every single one features expensive cars, girls dancing around, and people wearing throwback jerseys. I used to be a big hip hop fan back in the day, but it's become a complete joke lately.
  18. Yeah, cause parties w/ blacks and latinos never have problems, right? And since when do you have to be a fucking walking encyclopedia of DJs/house music and be a spectacular dancer to go and have fun at a club and create a good vibe? Just b/c you think you know everything about the scene doesn't give you the right to knock others who are newcomers to it or those who are just there to have fun. And if people wanna dress up or down, that's their choice. Do what YOU like but respect the fact that others may like something else.
  19. Well I was there last wknd. and they were inspecting IDs very carefully and then running them through a scanner @ the door; so unless you've got a really good fake, I wouldn't chance it. I saw one guy get kicked off the line b/c the doorman said that someone had used the same ID a little while ago. So yeah, they seem to be pretty strict lately.
  20. Let's not forget about the one they had in a Burger King where everyone was throwing Whoppers around and completely trashing the place.
  21. Well there was that one that they were showing in the Spider Club/Avalon called Rise: The Story of Rave Outlaw Disco Donnie. I never actually saw it though, so I have no idea if it's good or not.
  22. Cool; I always enjoy seeing flyers from days gone by. Check out this old Limelight flyer.
