  1. Is this going down at Spirit? These guys put on an unbelievable performance there last May. I'm definately in for this one.
  2. You are the coolest person EVER.
  3. Webster Hall is definately the place you want to go. Hottest club in the city right now. Good luck getting in though. Make sure you tip the bouncer at least 50 bucks and you should be good to go.
  4. I'd never even heard of Jon O'Bir prior to seeing him spin on NYE @ Ikon, but I was very impressed w/ his opening set. I was expecting to hear a bunch of fluffy, melodic stuff from him, since he was the opener; but no......he was laying down hard progressive trance from start to finish. The fact that he opened for PVD shows that he can hang w/ the very best DJs out there. I hope that he performs again in NYC in the future.
  5. Got there around 9:30 and stood in line for about 40 minutes which sucked; but at least it wasn't too cold outside. Opening DJ was definately on point (anyone know who he is?). By the time the new year rang in, the place was packed and everyone was going nuts. The shows were pretty good, with the exception of that robot guy. How f'n lame was that? He had on these springy shoes and was trying to jump around and almost fell about 6 times. Crowd was so-so; lots of Asians (of whom I have nothing against) but it would have been nice to see a little more diversity. At least everyone was getting down and having a good time. By the time PVD came on at around 12:30 there was very little space to dance (it's NYE, so I expected that). PVD played a really good set (had some ups and downs but I was impressed overall). I left around 4:15 or so b/c it was just too packed and too hot in there. Good time overall though. Happy New Year!
  6. Yeah, seriously. Give them their own space where they can start all the fights they want.
  7. Sweet. Just picked up my tickets today. See you all there!
  8. I fuckin hate Wal-Mart. In fact, I refuse to shop there. On top of having shady business practices (they subcontract cleaning jobs to companies who supply them w/ illegal immigrants, they are against workers unions, and they purchace inventory from suppliers who use sweatshop labor), the store attracts the worst group of degenerates I've ever seen. Yeah, like I'm gonna stand in line for 20 minutes so I can save 50 cents on a bottle of shampoo. No thanks. Stores like Wal-Mart hurt small businesses and the local community as well. Small businesses close down b/c they can't compete. And Wal-Mart is the nations biggest purchaser of goods from China. They bypass American made goods which causes a loss of jobs in this country. Boycott this f'n store.
  9. Goin to hang out w/ 2,000 of my closest friends @ Ikon
  10. Who f'n cares when you've got PVD coming to town......
  11. Oakie f'n killed it last night!!! Almost every track was good and the energy from the crowd was amazing. As expected, his set was around 2 hours; but at least he doesn't play 4 hours with 2 hours of filler tracks like some other DJs do. The DJ who came on after him (Eddie Bang?) was dropping some great tracks as well. Great night overall.
  12. My friend bought tickets, so it looks like I'm in. Guess I can't go wrong if it's free..... Anyways, his track selection is usually on point; I just hope his set isn't like 2 hours long. Should be a good time regardless. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  13. In no specific order: 1. Mauro Picotto 2. Danny Tenaglia 3. Infected Mushroom 4. Sander K. 5. Satoshi Tomiie
  14. Crobar is 100x better than either Spirit or Avalon. The venue itself, the crowd, the music, and the soundsystem are better. Avalon does get some really great DJs, but I just don't like the setup of the place, and its always way too hot in there. Sprit is ok, but the main floor is a bit small and does tend to get very crowded. At least they have a decent A/C system up in there so you don't feel like you're gonna pass out like @ Avalon. But Crobar definately beats it out in the music department, which is most important. Guys like Sander K., Hector Romero, Digweed, etc.
  15. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Webster Hall sucks.
  16. Infected Mushroom is unbelievable. I've truly never seen anyone perform like they do. Do yourself a favor and check out this party and thank me later.
  17. Picotto got ranked 27th..........are you f'n kidding me! He should be in the top 10 at least.
  18. Expect tons of people w/ little or no room to dance. Spirit is too small to host theme parties like this. Save your $30.
  19. Happy b-day Karisma! I can't make it out tonight, so drink one for me!
