  1. I can't believe that there's barely been any buzz about Blank and Jones' first ever appearance in NYC! These guys are f'n awesome! Damn, I know that Avalon isn't the greatest venue in the world, but anyone who doesn't go is gonna miss out on some great music.....
  2. I saw him and Phil K. last spring @ Avalon. Both played some really great sets.
  3. It's true alright. Pre-sale tickets are $30.
  4. DJ Vibe and The Low End Specialists are pretty underrated IMO.
  5. Glow sticks are very 90s, but whenever I'm out, I still see 2 or 3 people in the crowd w/ them (probably people who go to clubs like 2x a year and think that they're still cool). Doesn't really bother me or anything; unless they're the ones on strings, which have no place on a crowded dancefloor.
  6. Sounds interesting. I just hope he's better than when I saw him last Sept. @ Roxy........
  7. Johnson's Baby Powder and Cool Water cologne
  8. This rumor has been going around for a while now. First, people were saying that SF was gonna re-open on New Year's w/ Morillo on the decks which never came to fruition. Then, it was that SF would re-open in February sometime........doesn't look like that will happen either. So much speculation; but I'll believe it when I see it. Like someone posted above, the license for the old SF venue is INACTIVE. I don't see anything stating that a new one is pending.
  9. A cabaret license is required in order to operate an establishment where people will be dancing. The larger the club is, the more money you have to shell out in order to obtain the license.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need a CABARET license in order to run a nightclub?
  11. WooooooooHoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. This is b/c the THC in marijuana is fat soluble and is stored in fat cells for up to 30 days depending on how much you smoke. So you can drink all the water you want, and it isn't gonna do you any good b/c THC isn't water soluble. You can't just flush out your system. And like others have said, if you drink a lot of water right before the test, your urine sample will register as being too diluted, and they will know something is up. Drugs like ecstasy, on the other hand, are water soluable and are gone from your system in 72 hours.
  13. I've never heard of him before either. But for $10, I'd be willing to check him out. Sometimes the smaller name DJs actually outperform the big name guys b/c they have something to prove and want to make a name for themselves.
  14. He combines many different styles in his sets. He might start off w/ some funky/deep house and move on to some tribal or tech-house kinda stuff.
  15. Agreed. I'm sure there are a lot of EDM fans who started out listening to mixes like this. When you're just starting out, you probably don't really know what's good and what isn't, so you might buy a mix like this, b/c it's something that you're familiar with. But as time goes on, you dig a little deeper and you discover what true EDM is. But without the mainstream stuff, there are probably lots of fans out there who would have never discovered some of the really talented DJs and producers out there.
  16. Why not just construct your own meth lab in your basement? It will be cheaper for you in the long run.
  17. You need to go on a TV show in order to get a date. Sounds to me like you're the f'n loser.
  18. I kinda feel the same way. I don't want to pay an expensive cover and have no room to move. NYE was a terrible night IMO. The music was good, but it was disgustingly hot and crowded to the point that I left pretty early. There will be other parties in the coming months that will be just as good or better, so I'll most likely skip this one.
  19. Last night was definately a great night; However, $40 cover was a bit too steep IMO. Yes, I know that tix were $30 in advance, but I made a last minute decision to go. Anyways, the night was great from a musical perspective. First time I ever saw Deep Dish, and they definately delivered. First DJ definately played a better set; second one had some ups and downs. Energy from the crowd was intense, although it was a little too crowded until about 3am or so. I loved when they dropped "Nightmare." Crowd was going ballistic w/ that one. BTW, Mask....I saw you by the stage early on in the night (around 1am maybe). I was going to introduce myself since we've never met, but it was too crowded up there. Didn't see you again for the rest of the night. Thought maybe you had left early. Good time overall; legs feel like Jell-O today.
