Any relaxed dress codes at afterhours or good clubs?

I am thinking of taking a trip to vegas in the summer from Ny. Do all clubs and afterhours have this hoity toity dress code crap or is this the policy at a few of them. How are the dress codes at afterhours. Can I look decent and wear a pair of jeans a shirt and sneakers? Are there any spots where I can just go and dance my ass off and not have to wear a three piece suit. Any underground type places? Any help would be great.

Most clubs here do require a dressy dress code. You can wear jeans but they can't be baggy or have tears. No sneakers. Usually a button up shirt is fine. Some will let you get away with a nice t-shirt. I work at Drais and can put you on the list if you're interested but we have a classy dress code as we are an upscale lounge that plays house/trance music.

Yo Theboy:

I guess you don't understand the *reason* Vegas clubs enforce a dress code. It's not crap. It's to keep classy ladies coming back. Ladies don't want to see a bunch of guys looking like they are heading to a frat party. Isn't it worth the effort to wear a collared shirt and nice shoes to party with some of the most beautiful females on the planet? Or I guess you could just head on over to the strip behind the Stratosphere and wear whatever you want.

listen I understand what all of you are saying. I was just asking a question so I know what to wear. I come from NYC and I prefer places that are just be yourself and not worry about the hoity toity crap. The rap about the girls, I could really care less, I aint banging any whores out in those clubs. I am out to have fun. In the city we have many parties that are really good but just dont have the dress rule crap. By the way you can look good and not wear a button up shirt. At least I can.

Hey web do they play good music where you are talking about? Behind the stratosphere? Or just hick bullshit?

Well behind the stratosphere it all depends on the boom box.

And fyi, I'm personally from NYC and I'm not sure which part of the city you're from but the clubs that compare to most Vegas venues have similar dress codes.

You can wear whatever you want if you go to the bars here. The casinos don't have specific dress code and there are many lounges that you can just chill at. But the real nightclubs all have dress codes - every one of them.

Button down collared shirt, nice slacks or jeans that are not baggy, torn or patched, and nice shoes.

Oh and there's an attitude code too. Put it this way, if you come off in person to the door staff with the same tone as your messages here, you will be enjoying the club from the area outside of the entrance.

Tones Shmones. Attitude? LoL! I hear you on the dress code and all is cool but this is just one of many reasons that NYC is the #1 city in the world. I am cool with door policies but can we have some variety? You say you are from NYC which I don't doubt for one second but then you say that all "real club" have dress codes just like Vegas. Should I make a list for you?

Ok

Past Clubs

Limelight

Tunnel

Palladium

Twilo

Vinyl

Expo

Nasa

USA

Carbon

Centro Fly

Soundfactory

Newer Clubs

Spirit

Crobar

Ikon

Avalon

Cielo

Roxy

Discotheque

This is just a list off the top of my head where I have worn pretty much whatever I wanted. Do these clubs compare to those in Vegas? Umm I would tend to think so. Now if you are talking about lounges in the city then I hear you but as far a clubs go most in the city or at least any of the better ones have a very relaxed door policy. Dont worry the door guys will love me.

You're kidding right?

I used to go to Limelight, Tunnel, Paladium and others all the time. In addition to a $30-$35 cover, many had transvestites as the fashion police standing at the door, picking and choosing people based on how they looked. NYC back in the day featured some of the most selective dress code policies ever.

However, many post-Juliani clubs are hurting and many will take whoever will show up. This is not the same as the phenomonin in Vegas where all the big clubs have a nearly neverending source of business since well dressed people line up to pay full price and then get in a pay full price for drinks.

My advice is only meant to help you. If you come dressed poorly with a bad attitude you will be lucky to get into any of the clubs worth checking out - it's that simple. And no, the door people will not like you no matter how charming you become, unless you are in dress code or buying bottles or showing friendliness by opening your wallet.

I am from nyc and i dont think you can compare the nyc clubs to the vegas clubs. First of all NY MEGAclubs play mostly EDM music, house, trance, techno ,etc. If you are talking about lounges or even club lounges those are mostly hip hop with some places playing house.

Depending on the night you can wear whatever you want. For example made event nights at cielo, canal room, or spirit. There has never ever been a problem of people getting into clubs on those nights with sneakers or whatever. Yes there are some nights where the guy working the doors is a little stricter.

But I have to disagree with you djmaster on 30-35$ a night unless it was a rave for NYC clubs pregiuliani days. Most clubs were getting patrons in for 15-25 for lawler, pvd, sasha and digweed, vasquez, tenaglia etc.

Now here is your biggest mistake, NYC clubs are suffering ....? THATS a JOKE!

from febuary - april have u seen the talent comming in to the city? SASHA DIGWEED OAKENFOLD MORILLO PVD COX DEEP DISH CORSTEN VAN BUREN TIESTO , etc. Out of the top 30 djs on dj mag top 100...about 26 are showing up and some hwave to play on weekdays just to make up for the fact all teh clubs are being booked. With the old soundfactory being bought out by discotheque owners and also webster hall bringing in talent now. I MEAN WEBSTER HALL OUT OF ALL CLUBS........Come on Dude.....NYC IS BLOWING UP AGIAN! HEHEHE

But I do agree with you on attitude...If you have atttiude you won't be able to get in anywhere...

Hopefully I can give you some what of answer: Zingers do not have a strict drees code. They are very casual. They are open from 7am to 2pm and play decent music, house and trance. I hang out there with guys in tennis shoes and jeans and I consider myself a pretty classy girl! I completly understand where you are coming from... Its 8 in the morning, I have already hit up at least 2 clubs now I am at after hours and I want to CHILL!!

I hope nobody takes offense at my attempts to help get a message across.

Here's the whole deal that I don't understand.

When a lady goes to a club, she usually spends a LOT of effort throwing make up on, getting dressed up and looking their best, right? And yes, some ladies dress down or don't wear makeup and they can still be classy so don't get upset about what I'm saying --- but MOST females spend a LOT of time and effort looking their best to go out.

So HOW HARD IS IT for a guy to throw on a freakin button down shirt and shoes???? How in the world can a male complain about that? You can't feel relaxed in a cotton collared shirt - Gimme a break. And does it make that much of an inconvenience to throw shoes on instead of SNEAKERS when you go OUT to club?? Get real and stop whining. Just treat Vegas clubs like they are upscale, which most are, and be happy that you don't have to spend an hour putting a new face on.

Agree with everyone's comment on the matter. You all

Here are my general comments about dresscodes in general, not particular to any city, just in general. They come from someone who hangs with very fashionable chicks and enjoys wearing great thangs when I go out. Here are some comments .... really tough comments about one particular type of clothing ... comments that made people agree with me on .........

...... the whole WHITE DRESS SHIRT FOR GUYS IN A CLUB HAS TO GO! IT'S DORKY AND IT'S SO 2001! LOL

I dont know a single chick that is hot that likes to see a guy wearing the same type of shirt he could be wearing to the office in a club. The chicks all give the same hatred towards these shirts that I have for the following reasons:

a) A guy cant show off his body in these shirts.

Why spend 5 to 7 hours in the gym a week to cover it up with a bulky white dress shirt?

B) There is no styling to most of these shirts.

Girls wanta see style in guys. These shirts are fashion backward.

c) Most of the shirts are very difficult to dance in.

If its a button down, tucked in shirt - and you luv to dance 4-5 hours on the dancefloor, you wont last. Most shirts will tear or wrinkle too much and are too constricting.

d) A sea of these shirts in a club is friggen boring.

I could give a dollar when me and chick have sat back and counted guys wearing fundamentally the same damn shirt in the club.

Some of us dudes are a bit more fashionable, and attract extremely fashionable girls, then the whole button down shirt scene. Many of us dudes and our girls get our fashion ideas from the clubs. The whole white office shirt button down thang has to go - its fashion backwards, its boring, and if you wanted to hang out with a bunch of people that look like they just left the office, then you might as well stay at the office.

I have alot of venting to do this week and dress code is just the start. My question is why do people get mad. I went to Opm a few weeks ago on friday and my boy had on jordans, i walked to the door guy and said " can he get in with these" he said no. I said ok. Didn't name drop, or i work for, or i do... I left came back on sat. and had a great time. funny my boy lives in long island. I give hook-ups to people but they get so mad when you tell them you can't wear sandals or shorts. Just change or go somewhere else.

I will never understand what was going through some of these peoples' minds when they get dressed and come to my club....I only have 4 words: What were you thinking?

Hey I wasnt naked when I arrived at Drais, it just got that way by the end of the night lol

I think the person asking this question is correct. But I never seen a vegas club compare to a ny club yet only for ice in structure which was cool but I only been there once. I prefer a club that exposes itself to a musical sense than just a place to pose. And yes vegas has alot of posing going on. So does ny but ny got variety not just one type of image. shelter, roots at cielo, 718 @ deep totally open and great dancers to check out. And music is unreal if your into deeper soulful shiitt. It's not worth trying to compare vegas to ny. Ny is not just a city to go gamble it's got range unseen. You can be a poser or a music head or a weekend party freak and get into a club in nyc.

One Luff

Darkvixen you rule!

I didn't take offense to what you said Web. I just think people have different styles and that need to be considered when they go to a club.. Especially in Vegas since people come from everywhere. I also do think after hours should be more relaxed than a "normal" operating hours club. I honestly think people look good casual or a little dressed up. It just a different look.

The bottom line is that each club runs their own policies and rules. If the club will only allow a certain type of dress code then the patrons need to respect the rules or go to another club. And in Vegas it is pretty much standard that the hot regular hour clubs do not admit fellas wearing sneakers, ripped or baggy or patched jeans, jerseys or athletic-wear shirts or caps. Most clubs ask fellas to wear collared button down shirts, nice jeans or slacks, and dress shoes. That's just the name of the game in this town.

I know I do agree with you on what the club policies are and I do go out in them but I think sometimes "nice" sneakers should be overlooked. I would rather see a guy in a nice pair of sneakers than some scuffed up Lugs anyday!! I know I know it is Vegas and the policies will never change but it would be nice just to wonder!

Ok here I am just coming out of my weekend induce haze. As usual I have hit a nerve. Masterweb I am not sure when in the world you were going to Palladium Limelight and especially Tunnel and paying 35 bucks. Maybe they charged you extra? I also don't know what you are talking about when you say you had to be "dressed up". I remember people being turned away for being guidos. This whole discussion about NYC vs Las Vegas is plain old stupid. I am sure Vegas is a really great city but lets not compare it to the mecca of everything. That discussion needs to stop.

Someone also mentioned the whole dress code at afterhours and how they should relax it. This is the brightest point on here. Afterhours should be chill. You go there to get rocked and dance. Nobody in here wants to really rip it up if they have a frigging tuxedo on. The "regular" hour clubs I can totally understand them have dress codes to uphold an image. Thats just the way things are.

A great example of the way things should be run is the great city of Montreal. Clubs have pretty strict dress codes then in the afterhours it no holds barred. Do yourself a favor and go to Montreal and check out Sona, Stereo, Circus and see what true afterhours are all about.

I realize that the dress code and crap is just part of life that I will have to deal with if I go to Vegas. When is funny is that I ask a question and people like masterweb get all silly. Its a question I am sure all clubs in Vegas are great in their own way.

In closing I have a deal for all of you. I work out and bust my ass to look good. I would like to walk up to any girl and have my gear on and remember you can look good with sneakers on and then bring an ugly fatso with a button up and shoes and ask her who she would rather have in her club. I dont need to answer that. Do I?

I will get into ICE with sneakers. Easy.

Good luck in Vegas. Enjoy yourself and be sure to tell that story to the people who work at the doors. Let them know dress code is crap, and you work out so girls want to see you in your sneakers instead of that fat guy wearing clothes that follow the door policy... I'm sure they will happily let you right in.

Also, club 5150 on Decatur just opened up advertising no dress code. Go check it out and feel the vibe of a free-for-all dress code in Vegas. Have fun and... oh almost forgot, Club SRO is another casual dress club... a must visit for someone like you... I don't even think you need to wear anything on your feet.
