Junior came on at 1am starting with this vocal, “What do you mean, we can’t have any nightclubs. What do you mean, that we have to go home. What do you mean that we can’t walk the streets alone. We’re New York City motherfucker!” He then looped this vocal over tribal beats and our night was underway! ("We're NYC Motherfucker". I spliced 2 videos together here, so the transition when the beats come in is slightly off - Junior brought the beats in perfectly though.)The crowd, as stated in previous posts, was a diverse mix of people. I personally like it. There were some drunk/messy ones, but they were very few and far between. I thought the vibe in the main room was excellent. People were smiling and friendly. There was a good-sized crowd that filled up the dance floor, yet gave you enough room to dance without being shoulder to shoulder. I was actually happy with the turnout. I may be in the minority here, but I actually had a better time at this party than I did at the Bday and Red Parties @ Pacha. I LOVED the lights and the multiple discoballs hanging from the ceiling.A couple of the speakers went out early-on during Junior’s set, under the DJ booth and to the left (from the DJ’s perspective). They seemed to fix things pretty quickly though. Junior had a few transition problems early-on too, but more than made up for it with a an awesome selection of music and great mixing from 2-2:30am til the end (7am). I would have loved the party to continue until 8am, but it didn’t matter. (some beats early on in the set) (Earth House Anthem, highlight of the night for me) I was a little baffled by the negative posts I read yesterday before the “King of NYC” forum disappeared. I almost felt like I attended a different party. Great meeting Holly and JustMike. Scott, always good to see you, and nice to meet your friend Mike. I heard Barney was there, but didn’t have a chance to meet him. This was totally worth our 3 ½ hour trip up from Maryland. I’ll be back up to hear Junior again, maybe for his Bday Party in August.I took A LOT of video - 3 gigs worth! I’ll be posting links to 9 more videos I am currently uploading to YouTube, including clips of "Charmed Life", "Black Betty....into "Strange World", some of Amuka's performance, Taz "It's Not Right", "Say It Right", "My Destiny", "Music Is My Life", and "Everybody Dance". It was hell getting the venue reopen for one more party -- when we first tried, we assumed that it would be impossible. Who knows? On Friday afternoon, a queen at Staples seemed to know more than I did about how we got the venue, claiming that the "powers that be" (who knows if he means the the mayor, governor, president, god even?? I just listened) let the party happen to make up for the p.r. mess that the city got into by not giving permits this year for the Pridefest. Apparently the gay community was up in arms about no Pridefest. Nonetheless, we sold out of the allocated $35 tickets for our own little pridefest with Junior in just over 24 hours, and now Level 2 advance tickets are available. There are 500 of these for sale at $45, so get yours soon as we cannot predict how quickly they'll sell.Let me also say since many of you have asked...Elton John is NOT performing. That would have been amazing, but the show we have lined up will not disappoint. The show confirmation was another coup for us, so things are looking great for this party.
