  1. he said hes self conscious about losing his hair. i read it in an interview (dec? 99). ------------------ i love music!
  2. i am a huge hockey fan and was very happy to see this NHL great win the cup. more importantly, seeing such a hard working, dedicated, and respectable individual achieve his ultimate goal moved me to remember why i became a sports fan in the first place. circumstances put me in the bars at fanueil hall (boston) sat nite. lots of bruins fans, myself included, have our own emotions to deal with on this one. however, any anger i felt towards the organization and its dispicable ways of money management disappeared as soon as i saw borque hoist the trophy. he is the toughest and perhaps the most respected athlete in professional sports (at least in hockey). when he got all choked-up with emotion, so did everyone at the bar. ------------------ i love music!
  3. "In fact, practically all rapists, Sodomites, child molesters and pornography addicts started out as Masturbators." no shit? go figure. ------------------ i love music!

  9. actually, its the total opposite. the amount of money means little to the rich folks, while the really poor already receiving gov assistance wont get a check. the whole idea of this rebate is bc the repubs are trying to schmooze middle america. its an interesting gesture by the politcians. however, its only slightly less empty than mere rhetoric. it takes more than returning a few hundred dollars to convince me that any of the power hungry in DC are really concerned about the middle class. ------------------ i love music!
  10. actually, i prefer YKHWAH-- You Know How We Are Here. it goes better with my baahstin accent ("you know howwee ahh hee-ahh.") ------------------ i love music!
  11. yes. but only when i see ppl crash their own cars while yapping on a cell phone. ------------------ i love music!
  12. schadenfreude \SHAD-n-froy-duh\, noun: A malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others. The historian Peter Gay -- who felt Schadenfreude as a Jewish child in Nazi-era Berlin, watching the Germans lose coveted gold medals in the 1936 Olympics -- has said that it "can be one of the great joys of life." --Edward Rothstein, "Missing the Fun of a Minor Sin." New York Times, February 5, 2000 Often the people Pi met in Mendocino wanted to hear these terrible stories, the personal disasters, or they quoted them back to her from what they'd read, with a certain glitter in their eyes -- giving Pi the chance to wonder again as she once had in a Wittgenstein seminar why there wasn't a word in English for Schadenfreude, that very human pleasure taken in other people's misery. --Sylvia Brownrigg, The Metaphysical Touch If self-replicating e-commerce baby tycoons get on your nerves, it's schadenfreude time. It's true that the Nasdaq rebounded after its staggering loss Tuesday. Nonetheless, what AP described as "the most volatile day ever for U.S. stocks" left a distinctly bearish aftertaste. --"Market Motion Sickness." The Industry Standard's Media Grok, April 5, 2000 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Schadenfreude comes from the German, from Schaden, damage + Freude, joy. It is often capitalized, as it is in German. ------------------ i love music!

  17. youre right about the quote. its old. i didnt want to change it. it comes from the link i refer to at the end (the celtic PR website). the whole point of my comment was not to say the celtics are better than yankees or any silly shit like that. it was merely to point out that boston is a real sports town, filled with tradition, pride, and *championships*. 1918 was indeed a long time ago, but as you said we should look at today: -- today the yankees are not as good as they were last year. -- today the red sox are possibly better than they have ever been. -- today the sox are still in 1st place. oh and BTW, last year was the only time in our lives that no boston team made the playoffs. thats *1* year not "2 or 3." so who you callin "dumbass?" ------------------ i love music!
  18. WTF?! why you have taken to insulting me now? in every one of these posts, i have never once stooped to throwing insults at you. however, i feel that without any provocation or cause, you have chosen to disrespect me. -- pls stop being patronizing. you said, "well done for answering your own question and not understanding what you wrote." i cant think of any way to take that other than as a direct insult to my intelligence, meant only to hurt me. -- pls dont add your own own misconceptions to my statements. you said, "we should have learned that persecution never works." where the fuck did i advocate persecution?! -- pls avoid rhetorical bumblefucking: "so we wouldn't have known it was bad to kill jews and gays without hitler?" huh?! come again?! -- dont ever again do something as stupid as allude to my comments as being the "same argument" as that of a jackass like hitler. -- pls dont float off the cuff remarks like "classic case of too much education and no common sense" out in the middle of a post directed at me in a public forum. -- and definitely lose the judgemental tone. you said "Too old to go clubbing OR too young to post?" pls dont ever speak to me like that again. i hope i make myself clear. its a small world. you and i travel the same paths. lets try to behave. i actually have a thick skin, so none of this really bothers me too much. however, i insist that a little *respect* is still in order. i have given you as much, and i expect the same in return. am i asking too much? ------------------ i love music!
  19. mix absinthe and hash oil with some laudnum; add a few drops of liquid LSD, a dash of PCP, a shot of heroin, a lick of K, and some DXM cough syrup just for good measure; stir into a shallow pot and simmer for 3 days, adding alcohol (rubbing will do) while reducing to a thick black syrup; cook the syrup until it becomes dry and flaky. mix the flakes, along with a few drops of meth and some granules of rat poison, into a glass of apple juice and give to your friend while punching him firmly and repeatedly in his gut. dont forget to have him sign a waiver releasing you from responsibility for his impending blindness, drug induced psychosis, etc... ... or why dont you just buy him a beer?! ------------------ i love music!

  21. bc the gov has an agenda and an infrastrucure set up called the "war on drugs." from federal agencies like the DEA to private companies like anheiser-busch, theres way too much time and money invested in this war to end it, even for good reason. the war on drugs is every libertarians perfect example of why the government should not be allowed to spend all of our hard earned dollars attempting to resolve social problems. -sirdante took ecstasy back in the 80s and still, miraculously, can form complete thoughts ------------------ i love music!
  22. this whole post exemplifies how stupid this kind politics can be. who gives a fuck if the politicians recognize this group or that? the whole "foo month" crap is just a way to start political arguments like this one. is it really the role of the fed gov to tell us what to think about blacks, gays, women, anglos, left handed midgets, one eyed toll takers, or anyone else? am i the only libertarian minded person here? pls dont tell me that we would have never resolved slavery without a civil war, civil rights without affirmative action, drug problems withot a war on drugs, etc. goverment surely accelerates processes of change, but for good or ill. the slow acceptance by the ppl is still required for any of these processes to actually take effect. ------------------ i love music!
  23. you say "every team [in boston] blows." huh...?!? pls at least attempt to use your totally baked brain. take a look back down here at planet reality. since you are such a history buff (1918, bill buckner, etc), lets talk sports history... BASKETBALL: boston dominates more than any team in any pro sport ------------------------------------------------------------------ "They don't have as many championships as hockey's Montreal Canadiens (24 Stanley Cup inscriptions) or baseball's New York Yankees (22 World Series rings). But at little more than half that age, the Celtics have a far superior title ratio while collecting those 16 NBA crowns. And the Celtics' eight consecutive championships from 1959 through 1966 easily surpass the five straight won by the 1949-53 Yankees and 1956-60 Canadiens. Nor can any team approach the Celtics' domination of nine championships in 10 years and 11 in 13 seasons." (http://www.nba.com/celtics/history/50years_t radition.html) HOCKEY: 3rd winningest team, ever! WTF is wrong with you ppl, cant you admit that theres more than one cool city on this planet? (BTW, boston is a beautiful place filled with charming neighborhoods, fine art and tasteful architecture, shops, restrnts, fine ppl, low crime, and rich historical context. at 2AM the after parties are just getting started, its only that the serving of alcohol stops at 2AM-- so what? you think the public consumption of alcohol at a bar is the only way to party?!) 24. you need to start following my new religion (i invented it one night at an after twilo party with some ppl from this board). to practice sirdant's new religion, attempt the following: 1) give up problems. i gave up problems last december. i havent had one since. whats the point of having problems? i dont really like them. i dont really need them. i gave them up. 2) learn the motto. when things get too silly or annoying, it is helpful and healthy to just say "fuck it." fuck it is the motto of my new religion. 3) party on. ------------------ i love music!
