  1. check out the story and pic: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20020918/ap_on_re_us/sept_11_statue what's your reactions? is this art? is it offensive? my opinion is: it is art its an honest, emotional, artistic expression to something that happened. the "bad taste" is on the part of the rockefeller plaza folks for picking this particular piece to pay homage to the event. its not that sort of piece. it belongs in an art show aimed at depicting lots of reactions to the event and all its aspects.
  2. damn! tears in my eyes... jaysea and darrellg - not 100% agreeing with what was my favorite but can't look back on any of that with out feeling good. i saw that lollipop thing...haha damn so much shit changes. now with buzz gone in DC we can realize that its not just NYC where stuff gets flipped.
  3. u die a little bit each day until you have people relying on you (wife, kids, etc.) there really isn't much to prepare for. it sucks for those that knew you, but there isn't anything you can do about that. no way to "prepare" for an untimely death
  4. ahhh...thanks for keeping me on my sugarhigh kids p
  5. i ithink its cool that Roxy's trying to keep a non drug crowd there, but when your crowd drinks their ass off they're gonna get tired after the bar closes. and the bar pick up crowd isn't really there to dance at 7am. just my opinion...i haven't been in a while but that's what i saw. this isn't to say that you have to do drugs to stay out all night...i stay till arc or SF closes clean and straight all the time. my point is if you are out getting drunk for the night your body runs out on you sometime after the bar closes up.
  6. its called "barstool armpit" you know, when you are all fucked up and only manage to hold yourself in your seat by leaninig heavy on the barstool back. nice work kid i'm proud of you
  7. that would be a good way to drop some lbs....hmmm. i'm thinking something like 180 days plus a few short boat rides.
  8. Alderaan has a long history of being destroyed by the evil empire...history repeats itself..sigh

  12. lmao...ah there are tears in my eyes.. "so, do i get the job?"
  13. ah...someone old enough to be nostalgic with me video killed the radio star was just on...hahaha
  14. you need to take up something else to replace everything but the drug part... like toothpicks and cherry lifesavers for the oral and something in the hand / mouth thing. its a social habit not just an addiction. use straws in bars. and tell your friends that you need their help - they are not allowed to let you bum smokes from them. good luck
  15. IMO - the place doesn't play good music and is overpriced its nice inside in a sorta frat boy turned banker sorta way and draws a fairly republican and dressy crowd. sorta crowd that has no clue about the music but just wants to go out and dance cause its a change of pace for them. def not a drug place (cept maybe some coke heads), lots of drinking. then again, i haven't been there in probably close to a year. if you like Arc / Vinyl, liked twilo, limelight, tunnel, etc. - you won't like this place. if you like World or Lotus you'll like it
  16. Empire Records on VH1 right now. A cheesy early nineties movie...ahh the memories. But a great soundtrack and a horde of kids in it that became famous.
  17. man, don't start again!!! for me it was only tough when i would go out and hang at bars and clubs. i think i was lucky cause i had great motivation. my mom had smoked for 20 years and she had a cancerous lump found in her breast...she and i quit on the same day: christmas eve 1995. i didn't smoke a ciggy period for 1 year. then for a about 3 years i used to have about one a week, when i was out at a bar and didn't want another drink it would sorta even me out. haven't even had a single butt for about 8 months now though. here's a poem I wrote about the thing with my mom: i think you'll be able to see the motivation - SOFT PACK That is her last one. Has to be - the doctor said. She sits there small, curled in on herself, blue haze eddying. He said it doesn't look good, but not bad. It is early. I finger the edge, a soft rectangular shape in my pocket - a living breathing thing. A deep breath full of pine and linoleum. A crisp clean manner. Serious but optomistic. No guarantees. Hard work. The doctor shakes my hand. Something else, more words i don't catch. She sits alone. I am a spectator. A brief smile that doesn't touch the eyes, a nod. I thank him i think. He leaves brightly twinkling lights behind, trails tinsel and best wishes. We will see him next week. No fear just a small tight knot of desperate hope trying to double me over.
  18. ahhh...nice hearing from the author didn't realize this was a couple years old. so, how do you think things have changed since then? pete
  19. lmao... dan u'r missing the point xpander knows what these dj's play he's just pointing out that you stated that twilo and gatecrasher played the same music, and that gatecrasher was hard uk house. so, u've heard people point out that gatecrasher isn't hard uk house, and even if it was, by your own words s & d and pvd don't play it. lets just leave it as being a bad comparison and move on. just read back over the thread
  20. somebitch - while i agree with you in general somethings are definitely true - on the whole women prefer vocals - on the whole men perfer hard techno now, this might be largely the result of cultural mores and nothing else, but i don't think its fair to agree that guys are more agressive and egotistical and then reject the corralative of that regarding females and vocals. personally i think women are just as aggressive and ego driven, they are just held back somewhat by what our society accepts as normal behavior on gender basis. professional women, in my experience, are at least as aggressive / back stabbing / whatever you want to call it in the workplace, and women can be down right evil when it comes to fighting over men. (men are evil in these ways too - don't get me wrong) anyway, i just hate stereotypes in general. barbara is the shit
  21. dan, if you read your own article it states that the club was closed after a 3 year battle with the city. that kid died during the last year of that battle. the club was closed due to permits - you'll note that the city simply didn't have to renew the licenses. its kinda like capone - he was convicted for tax evasion, not for murdering people. the city was after twilo cause they saw it as a world reknowned symbol of drugs and corruption - but they didn't close it for drugs in terms of what legally happened. Jaysea - as usual hitting the spots on your parties to remember. as for comparing twilo saturdays with roxy saturdays - i'm not sure i would go there either. different parties. i will say that twilo saturdays were always a sick sick party until the morning with a great vibe. there have been lots of great nyc parties, kinda all depends on what you get into and where you have family. i used to love friday confusion at centrofly too. when you start going back to nasa, tunnel, roxy boris parties - u definitely get nostalgia and think about all the good times.
  22. sounds like a good idea mugz... hey lav, you write it and i'll shop it to my publishing friends
