  1. For a bachelor party, Rehab is an absolute must. Trust us on this one.
  2. Jet is packed to the rafters every night they're open. Expect this night to be like that.
  3. What are the set times for Soundbar this Thursday?
  4. That is a Funktion One Series 5. Even with earplugs in, it is still punishing. I love it.
  5. If a promoter could book Fatboy Slim for $15,000, he would be playing here every month, at least. Where did you get $15,000 from?
  6. Wow, I don't know what to say. A casino nightclub offering house music in their main room. I'm stunned. I didn't think any of those clubs had the balls to do something like this, even on a Tuesday. Best of luck with this.
  7. No one can confirm it yet because, well, it's not confirmed. It is in the works, and you'll know as soon as the contracts are signed. I hope this happens; they rocked Ice last Memorial weekend. Best set I've seen from those guys by far.
  8. Ra will be closing soon to make way for Vegas branches of LAX and The Roxy. MGM Mirage inked a deal with Pure Management Group to develop and run those venues.
  9. ^^^^lol That reminds me of a couple of my friends who are avid poker players. I was with them for different parts of a 27 hour marathon at the Bellagio poker room a couple of years ago.
  10. What was really disappointing was when Erick played that track "work this pussy" for like the 87th time. I mean come on. Erick Morillo is one of the innovators in the world of electronic music. Once everyone else starts playing a track, it's time to move onto some new ones IMO. Of course, I never thought that track was good; maybe everyone else still loves hearing it. I wonder if he still plays that track in NYC. I am thinking he doesn't, but maybe he does.
  11. Nope, no Miami for me this year. I went last year though, and did hit the Subliminal party. I wasn't impressed with even one track Erick played Sunday morning. I am not saying he was bad, but I didn't think he was great either.
  12. Morillo is like pizza: even when he's bad, he's still pretty good. He was bad for stretches yesterday, especially the first hour when he was awful. I'm still trying to figure out how people can say he was amazing. I found his set to be simply decent, and far below the best I have heard from him. That said, the party was a blast; Late Night Empire is unquestionably the #1 party in town for house music right now. I too was disappointed that Erick only played for 4 1/2 hours, but after playing for 14 hours on Friday night/Saturday morning at Pacha NYC for his birthday party, I wasn't surprised that he cut it short yesterday. I too would like to say thank you to whoever is handling the bookings for Late Night Empire. Erick will be in LA on Friday, June 2nd for a gig at Avalon. See what you can do about snagging him for that Saturday night/Sunday morning. Also, see what you can do about booking some DJs that Ice won't book, like Sander Kleinenberg, Lee Burridge and James Zabiela. I would also like to say that it was nice to see the place still have a great crowd around at 9:30am when Erick decided to call it a night, or morning rather.
  13. Is there any chance we can have this thread become a sticky?
  14. I am up partying at that time periodically, and sometimes well past that, and I am never fucked up on anything. I can still have a great time. Sunday morning we left Empire Ballroom at 10am stone sober, having had a lot of fun.
  15. Geez, even you guys rip on Avalon. I've been there five times, and had a great time all five times. Why do so many Angelenos hate that place so much?
  16. LA is already permitted. Stop guessing that it isn't. Basically, it is outfitting a theater, since they can't tear them down in LA like we can here in Vegas. Crobar Miami is awesome though, so I have high hopes for what they can do with the Fox Theatre.
  17. Not sure why you guys think it is not possible for a club to be built in six months. If an entire resort can be built in two years, a club can be built in six months.
  18. Yes folks, probably the biggest, best known brand in US clubbing is setting up shop in Vegas at the NY-NY Hotel. They're moving into the spot that currently houses the Cabaret Theater, in which Rita Rudner currently performs. Her last gig is June 10th. Construction will start shortly thereafter, with an eye toward being open by NYE. Oh, and they're also setting up shop in LA on Hollywood Blvd in a venue called the Fox Theatre. Crobar LA is on pretty much the same timeline as the Vegas one.
  19. So what do you think Empire will be getting for presales for Tiesto? $50?
  20. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. In that case though, you're talking about two big booking fees to cover. The costs with only one of those acts booked would have of course been considerably less. At Ice last year for that party, they tried to charge us $50 cover each, when we had a table...lmao
  21. Do you think he'll be commanding 75 G's if he's playing two gigs in the same day? That seems pretty high, even for Tiesto.
  22. Well, let's say Empire Ballroom does 1,500 covers the night Tiesto is there. They'll fill up, but like you said, the club is not very big. They'll be getting at least $35 a head, so $35 x 1,500 = $52,500. Booking fee covered right there. Plus, Empire will sell all of their tables, meaning the tables in the main room, the tables in the side room, and the tables on the patio. That's many thousands in additional revenue right there, on top of what the bars will pull in from the non table buying public, which will also be well into the thousands. Even with Tiesto's booking fee, plus productions costs, staff, wholesale costs for all of the alcohol and addiitional bar-related items, they're good to go I think. Also, I am pretty confident in saying that my guess as to the cover charge that night is plenty low. They'll be able to get $40+ at the door for sure.
  23. I saw Jaimy last year at WMC. To put it plainly, he's awesome. You will not be disappointed, I am sure.
  24. All of that is true, but the reason I am surprised is that Rehab would fill up regardless, so it is nice to see them have the balls to spend the money on booking Tiesto when they don't need him, or any other big name DJ, to pull in a crowd. Jet is stepping up in May as well, by booking Josh Wink and Nick Fanciulli. Jet doesn't have to book those guys to pull in a crowd, so it is nice to see them do so. Are promoters in this town finally growing some balls, and realizing there is life beyond hip hop? One can only hope. When you will have a line down the block anyway, booking big name DJs gets you "street cred", or in the sense of the electronic music scene, notoriety. Jet is a great venue; hopefully the DJs they have booked to come in and play will like it as well, and word will get out of another great venue in Vegas for international DJs to play at. Hopefully Jet's crowd will be receptive to what those guys bring to the decks.
  25. I figured their water sales would be the one to skyrocket on Asian nights...lol
