  1. I too would be up for them dumping the cheesy wannabe name, and coming up with something new. The original Studio is a legend, and helped launch a new era of nightclubbing in America. The knockoff at the MGM, however, never had a chance to even begin to approach the lofty heights of the original. Don't harken back to yesteryear when you should be helping push the Las Vegas club scene forward. That's just my opinion.
  2. I bet that's one of Walgreen's most high traffic locations.
  3. Even though what you say about Tao (the entire venue) is true, telling people that the club is 44,000 sq ft is misleading. The club is something like 10,000 sq ft. Far be it for me to tell you how to do your job, but you really shouldn't tell people that the club is 44,000 sq ft. Pure can tell people they're 36,000 sq ft because the entirety of their venue actually is a club. That is not the case at Tao, and telling people it is because you can hear the lounge music in the dining room is a real stretch.
  4. I could understand midnight, but 11 is pretty early to start bumping people.
  5. Well, MGM Mirage's press releases have put it at 15,500, but who knows. Maybe your source is correct and the press releases weren't. I guess we'll see for ourselves in a couple months.
  6. Jet is to be 15,500 sq ft, which is not even half of Pure's 36,000 sq ft.
  7. A couple friends of mine went, and they said it was packed. As far as it replacing Drai's though, I think that Drai's has become such an institution that it would have to close in order for something to truly replace it.
  8. Pretty much everyone I know in the scene loves Cirque du Soleil and the Blue Man Group, so if it's one of those, then I think you would be in good shape.
  9. I am utterly baffled as to how you can say hip hop needs to make a comeback in Las Vegas. A post like that makes me think you don't actually live here, or that this thread is simply in jest.

    New Years?

Well, if she wants hip hop, then DJ Masterweb is the man to talk to.
  11. Whenever my friends and I go to a movie at the Palms on a Saturday night, we always make a point to walk by the Rain entrance at about 9pm to get a good laugh out of the people already waiting in line an hour+ before the doors open.
  12. You still get more requests for Rain than Ice? Seriously? I guess the MTV generation is still going strong.
  13. I'm going to go with no on that. What is moderately busy at Pure will have people piled up to the ceiling at Tao, because it is nowhere near as big. Pure did 5,000 covers on a Saturday night two weekends ago. I don't think Tao could do that even if you counted their dinner covers.
  14. I've been to Tao twice now, and would also like to speak to what a great venue this is. Definitely a must-see in Vegas. The place took two years to build, and it shows. It's beautiful, and so are the people who go there. And so is the staff, especially the girls who work in the lounge. I am very happy they have house music in the lounge. It seems to go over very well.
  15. Sasha and John Digweed played C2K in 2002 as part of their Delta Heavy tour.
  16. I think he just meant which club gets the most people through the door. Clearly that is Pure.
  17. Well, #1 is obviously Pure. They get the equivalent of a medium sized town through their doors every night they're open.

    New Years?

New Years Eve might be the worst big night of the year in Las Vegas. I go to LA whenever I can, to go to a real party. This year is the Giant Village in downtown LA. Two years ago, it was 10 hours of John Digweed at Avalon Hollywood, and back in 2002 it was Sasha, Lee Burridge, Jimmy van M and Junkie XL at the Colliseum. The parties there absolutely blow away anything here, and are much more reasonably priced.

    Miami

Sander Kleinenberg is at Space that Saturday night.
  20. It's inside a casino, so don't let the fact that it's still open surprise you. If it were freestanding, it would've closed a long time ago.

    Miami

Don't leave Miami without going to Space. It is the best nightclub in the US. There is nothing like Sunday morning afterhours on the Space terrace.
  22. The headliners normally take the decks around 1, although it could be even later that night. So, no worries about missing him. As for bottle service, yes, Ice offers it. Talk to a VIP host there for prices.
  23. Don't you think it's a bit of a stretch to say we're in a recession because we had a mellow week? I had a friend in town this weekend from LA, and he stayed at the Wynn. While Friday night over there was fairly mellow, La Bete still turned out a good crowd. Pure was also mobbed as usual. On Saturday, Wynn was wall to wall people. We hit Tao, which had a great turnout (sick venue), and Ice had a good turnout as well. You should know by now that not even Vegas is going to be ragin' every week.
  24. Bringing in DJs like Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo, Mark Farina, Kaskade and Sasha is a gimmick? That's interesting.
