I haven't been to Stereo, but the best sound system that I have yet heard is the Dynacord Alpha One installation at Space Miami.

I'm surprised no one from Jet or the Light Group has mentioned this yet. Anyway, Josh is one of America's top talents in house music. Come out to hear him if you can.

Greg, Peter Morton is the founder, and Harry is his son and I believe a part owner of the Nine Group. Peter owned the Hard Rock here in Vegas outright, and that casino, as well as rights to the name west of the Mississippi (I believe excluding those on Indian reservations) are what were included in the sale to Morgans earlier this year. It's amazing that the sale of the Las Vegas property, including the apartment complex adjacent to the hotel, to Morgans was almost equal in price to the sale of almost the entire company to the Seminoles.

Actually, it is better this way. We get the talent that LA is getting, only not on amateur night (aka NYE).

$50 is absurd, but as long as it is tourists paying it I could care less.

So they're bringing in a different sound system for this party? I ask because the sound system at the Fonda is appallingly bad, one of the worst I have ever heard.

This party was excellent. I doubted Tabu's ability to throw a great party around these two guys, whose music is a great deal different than what the venue is used to hosting, but they did a fantastic job. Epope, tell your friends over there thank you again for booking those guys.

Does anyone on here have any idea what the cover will be at Tabu tonight?

I just hope they're able to make it through the Mistress Barbara booking they had lined up for Nov. 4th. I was really looking forward to that.

Well, Jet is starting a house night on Thursdays which from what I am hearing will be co-promoted by Spundae, and Giant will be doing Sunday bookings at Tao's new house party. However, as far as Saturday nights go, it looks like that void may not be filled for awhile unless Empire Ballroom were to give regular hours another try. I don't see any of the casino clubs going straight house on Saturday nights. Ice's closure is a big loss for the club scene here. It will be missed.

Ice is closing. It's not set in stone yet if this coming Saturday will be the last party, but the club is not long for this world, unfortunately. It was a pretty good three years, and the venue will be missed.

Greenie, this won't be Sander's first ever Vegas gig. I've seen him play at Ra twice, Foundation Room and Baby's.

He was basically awesome. He came on pretty late, around 2am, but once he was on, it was on. He rocked the house with a very enjoyable set. I know he's a tough guy to book, but he needs to come around here more often. Steve Lawler is definitely worth the price of admission. Thanks to everyone who made it out for a great night of music.

Sam Boyd Stadium, which is where Vegoose is, is nowhere near the Strip at all. You'll be looking at a pretty hefty cab fare. However, you REALLY don't want to drive an RV to the Strip, so splitting the cab fare is the way to go if those are your only two options.

Don't send people to the Beach dude. Are you crazy?

I used to have a problem with dressing a little nicer to go out here in Vegas, but that doesn't bother me at all anymore. In fact I've come to like it because you're assured a much more well dressed crowd at the club. Also, you don't need anymore money to party here than you need in LA. Cover charges are pretty much the same, and so are drink prices. Tables and bottles probably cost more here, but they all get sold, every night, so clearly there are a lot of people who do not perceive the prices as unreasonable. Besides, selling bottles at 1,200% markups is what allows $20 million venues to be profitable. Without that revenue source we'd be partying in venues that look like, well, LA venues. For the people who complained about the door staff at some of the venues here though, you are right on about that.

In terms of the quality of the venues, there is no comparison at all. The only really good venue in LA is Avalon. Quality plummets dramatically from there. The venues here are spectacular, even if they do host cheesy parties every week. Clubs here are just so nice, really classy venues. I don't see that in LA. The big places, like Circus Disco and Vanguard, are really not on the level of anything in Vegas IMO, although Vanguard has an awesome sound system. Las Vegas has some of the most impressive venues you'll find anywhere.

I am pretty disappointed that Carl isn't playing a club like Ice or Jet, and is instead playing Tabu, a lounge, and a small one at that. I would love to hear the story behind how Carl came to get booked at Tabu. That seems like such an odd spot to book a DJ like Carl Cox. I can't imagine he would have heavily discounted his massive booking fee for this gig. I hear what Martinstein is saying about seeing Carl in an intimate venue, but not one like Tabu. Tabu doesn't even have a dancefloor. Don't get me wrong guys, I like Tabu. However, it seems like a much less than ideal setting for someone like Carl Cox.

He deserves everything that is coming his way, from gigs at New York's legendary Cielo to crowds knowing the tracks as they come in out in San Francisco at Ruby Skye. He works his ass off, and treats everyone around him the right way.
