  1. I wanted to go initially, but I don't think I could make it down now. I have heard a lot about Lawler, but I too don't know his style? I thought he was a techno dj? What time does this party go to anyways? It's $50 at the door right? I hope I can make it, but there's a good chance I won't.

  3. Damn!! Looks like Oakenfold discovered the fountain of youth.. or something, could be Botox? Totally didn't recognize him. He does look like a pretty boy in that pic!! Where is he playing on Thanksgiving night? It's been awhile since I've seen him, but he's usually doesn't disappoint... unless someone her has had a bad experience at one of his latest events? Anyone care to comment?
  4. For real? I thought you didn't like JP? Everyone's got to get there JP fix on sooner or later even yo self!! Hey "Nobody listens Techno..so let's go" ... Your a techno junkie huh?
  5. Pretty much the same here. Got a good amount on my plate for now, but may hit the city maybe next weekend or in sometime in Dec.
  6. Agreed. I don't think it's the best way to learn, but for some it's the only way to learn. Just part of the hard knocks of life I guess?
  7. Gabe, only in a perfect world would the entire club scene be drug free. Asking for clubs to be alcohol and drug free is asking a little too much. The Roman Empire wasn't built overnight either. What I'm trying to say here is that it's going to take time before we see dramatic changes in the club scene. I too would like to go out and be part of a sober free club environment, but I live in something called reality and it's just not going to happen right away. The problem is that for some people the music is not good enough. They need to consume a ton of alcohol and drugs to have a good time. It's there right to use drugs and alcohol, but they should know how to limit and control themselves. Drugs are rampant everywhere, but alcohol is part of club revenue. So there is nothing you can do if people act incoherent from time to time because of it. I too get frustrated when I go out and see people either too drunk or messed up to move get in my way of dancing. Am I going to tell on them though? No, because I'm not going to solve anything by doing that because there will be others who get away w/ it anyways. My question is why are there so many irresponsible people who go out solo, get too messed up to even walk and then don't have anyone to take care of them the rest of the night? Making the rest of the people who are enjoying themeselves responsible for them. Is it that hard to call someone to go out w/ beforehand? It seems like I always see people like this whenever I go out. The bottom line is whenever you go out you should be responsible for how you act and how the people you bring with act. You can't always help every other person out, because if you do people will never learn from their mistakes or irresponsible ways. Some people have to learn the hard way unfortunately. At this point in time knowing how to party responsibly is knowing your limits as well being in control of yourself. Unfortunately many still don't know how to do either.
  8. I don't know if I will be here for x-mas or nye, but if I'm here and I still want to party more ny's day it maybe worth checking out. I got to see what other parties are going on for NYE as well first. I have never heard Calderone live b4 so that may give me incentive to go. I will consider it, but it's still too early for me to decide. Again I may not be here, and if so I may not have to make any decisions for nye.
  9. People will do there share of drugs no matter where you go. They will always try to get away with it no matter what. I'm sure a ton of people did drugs at plenty of DT's parties, not only at JP's nights. Not even you could stop them, but I see what your trying to do here. There are many who go overboard with their drug use, and those people should be tossed out, because they are their own worst enemy in the end. The bottom line is that it's up to each individual to be responsible for themselves and whomever there with and to make sure that if they do anything to be in control of there actions no matter the night or club you check out. Telling on every single person that does something is absurd, because you won't be able to enjoy your night that evening. If you want to do this you may as well become a security guard at a night club or sign up w/ the NYPD and then become a Narc. What it all boils down to is that it shouldn't be about drugs or alcohol, it should be about the music and the people who share in the passion for the music. The dancing could also be included, because it's part of the vibe. The problem is trying to get the focus of the club scene to be centered more on the positive interaction of all types of people on any given night due to the music. Instead of the focus being on excessive or out of control drug use which is too often associated w/ the club scene.
  10. If DT was going to have residency at Spirit on Fri's, it would definitely complement JP's Sat nights there. I'd be for it all the way. It would be great parties on back to back nights!! Again the chances of this happening though are like the Knicks winning a championship it seems. It all depends on DT in the end. Does he have residency in Miami right now? Also what are these rumors of JP playing at SF next year? Isn't SF done for good? People really love to dwell in the past for the most part in here.
  11. I knew this sounded to good to be true. Will you let us know when something really goes down w/ DT? Then it will be news.

  14. Exit/Ikon whatever the heck you want to call it... I think it's best days were when this place was Carbon. I'm wondering if it had a different name before that? The last time I went to Ikon was last nye when JP played for hours. That place was packed, but again it was nye and it was a reasonable price per/person. The staff really didn't check ids at all that night. The bottom line is that this club has tried everything possible to get it done right and they have failed everytime. They brought in the likes of Tony Draper, Denny Tsettos, Jr. Vasquez, and JP and they have all left. They have changed the name of this club a plethora of times and was has that done? I don't know if the mgmt or ownership have to change, but something's got get done or this club should just get shut down. I think they need to get promotion teams to work for each room of that club, because it's such a big club. The challenge is to fill that club week after week w/ a good crowd and create a vibe for that club. Something that seems right now pretty impossible to accomplish. They need get one thing right and go from there. There has been one constant though, and that has been the same shady door staff year after year. I think when Exit opened it all began. From what I've heard people have had the worst experiences w/ the door staff here than at any other club in the city. These guys run the door like they would Alcatraz, like prison guards do. It's a shame because they are the ones who deter most of the people away and therefore they never come back. Wow Stereo!! It's been years since I've been to Montreal. So many great memories in this city. That place has a sick sound system and great djs too. I didn't think Stereo would last this long. I heard Sona closed down, I wonder why? There are new clubs up there that are also good too. I need to go back up there and check it out. Maria have a great time there and remember bundle up... it's mad cold up there. You should take pics if the party is that good.
  15. Happy belated b-day, sounds like you enjoyed yourself!!
  16. As if the winters here aren't long enough in the NE as it is, now we may have an extra month of winter to look forward to. Which means more snow. Grrreeaatt!! Snow only appeals to people who like to ski or have snowmobiles. My main knock against snow is having to shovel tons of it off the ground over and over again. The salt makes cars look like shit boxes, no matter where you live. Not a good sign at all. It's going to be a long winter folks.
  17. Where does Victor play these days now anyways?
  18. From what I've heard Avalon has a small dancefloor, hence making it difficult to move or even get down and jam. People all of a sudden are up in your face. Not my idea of a good time. I will try it out though one time, just because it's a club in a church. Never been to one of those. This place must have been crazier back in it's Limelight days. Crobar I've been to and I liked the club. The system rocks and they do bring in good djs and have a good size dance floor. I wouldn't call Boris a great dj, but from what I've heard he's improved. The women there I would stereotype as "bimbo like". They are good looking, but it's not because of their natural looks alone. It's like a bunch of Pamela Andersons running around, which to most would sound great. I personally prefer all natural, but they are not the problem. I think the problem here is that most people here have attitude for no reason and come off like a bunch of posers. I prefer going to Spirit, even though the club doesn't have the biggest dance floor or best system (I've heard they are making improvements to it). I like it personally because of the crowd and vibe. I like the people here I think they are "more down to earth" and I also go to get my JP fix. He's been pretty good all the times I've gone, including on Halloween. Sometimes he maybe off, but for the most part he's been on. Yeah, there are a ton of Guidos, but there are also a good amount in Crobar too. The crowd is pretty diverse IMO and the women are pretty cool. Some people say that "most of the women here are skanky looking" I don't buy into that. There are girls who dress like that everywhere, including at Crobar and at other clubs throughout the city. If you look good in an outfit by all means wear it. I don't have a problem w/ it at all, the way how a person dresses is their own agenda. It's more important how people carry themselves. As China Doll said the CP list is not that reliable and therefore the house list would be better choice. In the end I guess it's what appeals to each person that makes them prefer a certain club over another.
  19. Word up Urban and a happy b-day to the b-day CPers!! Just wondering who this DJ is here, I probably should know but I don't. I've heard of him, but don't exactly no his style? Sounds like a trance legend? Any input from the CP tribunal would be appreciated.
  20. It's hard to give an opinion on this topic because I haven't heard Boris in ages, but I'll give it a shot. Crobar is the main reason that Boris is still in the club scene. He has bounced around a lot. I went to Crobar once this summer to see Deep Dish, and even though there were fine women present, I thought that most of the crowd consisted of a bunch of posers. It's my personal opinion, but regardless Crobar brings in heads. The problem w/the way Boris spins is that he's inconsistent. Sometimes he's good other times he flat out atrocious. JP hasn't been the same dj from SF's early days, but he's still pretty good and consistent at Spirit. I liked his set on Halloween. Away from Spirit he's not the same dj. For instance, in Bastan at Avalon he just played to get paid. He gave like 5% effort most of the time and then he was out. People expected him to play like he did at SF. This was years ago though. Based on the fact that he's been more consistent lately at Spirit than Boris has been at Crobar you would have to give him the edge over Boris. Therefore Boris is no way the new JP!! They both presently have residencies, that have been steady and so far so good for each of them. Only time will tell in the long run. I'm wondering whose tired of Spirit? I guess it's the word on the street? Because I usually see the same people the times that I go. I wouldn't be seeing the same heads if it was getting played out.
  21. NYC was def the place to be for Halloween? I had a great time that weekend!! B4 I went to Spirit, I decided to meet up w/ our crew at Mars 2112. It happened to be one of my boy's b-days. It was my first time here and I didn't know what to expect? The place was like one big maze, def different from what I'm used to seeing. I felt like I was in an underground cave. The setup of the club was very unique. A change of scenery is good though. The Halloween spirit was evident, most people were in costumes. There was a plethora of fine women throughout the club. There were 2 main rooms that I spent the most time in. There was a large room that played a lot of hip hop and another room that was smaller, where house music was played. Most of the people where in the bigger room. I've heard this place is a restaurant during the day and I'm curious to find out what type of food is served here? It's pretty spacious. Anyways as the night went on the crowd was getting smaller and smaller. Once the clocks had turned back, we had decided our final destination would be Spirit. Once we arrived at Spirit, I noticed the line was getting pretty long. Some of my friends wanted to go elswhere, but then decided to wait it out. A lot of people in line were saying that Crobar had closed down early. Was that rumor or was that how it went down? I too noticed they weren't checking Ids, which they usually do. Anyways once I got inside I realized it was pretty packed!! Most of the people stuck w/ the Halloween theme and wore great costumes, but there where also many who didn't wear costumes. I can't really blame them for it, because it was like a 1000 degrees inside. Most of the women had it going on that night. The women were no doubt the main attraction. It's like every women for herself!! Time to get the most attention!! Women wore thongs, latex suits, mini skirts, heels, boots as part of there costumes!! I was digging all of it. The music got me going as soon as I arrived. JP was playing dark and underground tracks thoughout the entire night. Some of my crew left early others stayed w/ me until 9. You know who you are!! (Chris, Michelle, Tracy) Once JP stopped playing I figured that was it, but as soon as I exited the club he started playing GTI, I was like damn!! Was that last track he played or were there more? I hate when he does that!! Overall the Halloween party was a success. I know people are going to say that "Spirit is NO SF!!", which is true, only a few other clubs in NYC club history had the same effect that SF had during it's run. SF was just total insanity, while Spirit needs more time in order to create it's own idenitity. SF had No Limits, Spirit obviously does. I don't mind the change, I think it's for the better. I'd rather be able to talk about my night, than have no recollection of it at all. At SF that usually was the case for many. It was crackhead central through and through. When's the next party at Spirit? Thankgiving eve?
  22. First off, I want to hear some more reviews. I didn't go that night and am a little disappointed, but I 'll go to the next themed party which would probably be on Halloween right? I don't know why some people are very surprised that this party was packed? At SF most of the themed parties were very packed and this Classics party falls in that same category. I used to feel like this and my mindset was like this when I went these parties: "I too can't stand some of these pretty boy juice monkeys, pretty much because they take up room on the dancefloor where I should be able to jam and most can't really dance to begin with anyways. Everytime I think I'm finally able to jam another juice monkey appears and takes up space where I should be able to dance NO problem. It's like I'm a juice monkey magnet, they always find a way to be around me when I wan't to jam." I'm used to it by now so it doesn't really phase me anymore. I can wait it out until a lot of people leave. Yes juice heads are just part of the scene. So getting back to the party How were the tracks and can anyone name a few? I heard there were fights, but probably due to the overcrowding. I heard no one say anything bad about the asian crowd either because they usually are blamed for everything that goes wrong at a club. It's not fair how some people label them. Did the dancers put on a show? What time did the party end?
  23. Hey Silverbull, I think there was another thread in regards to another documentary that you had mentioned in the past? It was about the origins of house music and Oakenfold was doing commentary in the movie as well. I guess you were reading the book to this documentary? I wanted to know what was the name of that book and the documentary? I remember I was watching part of this documentary on real player?
  24. Just waiting for a friend to say he's in and I'm there. Haven't been to Spirit for awhile. I think there will be a good turnout for Classics this Sat!!
  25. So I guess he plays in the city from time to time? What's the next event that he will be playing at in the city?
