  1. LOL Tabu Sunday w/ Rock Steady. Sundays are all about Risque, Body English, Light... and OPM for urban/reggae.
  2. Great review. The mash-up style (hip-hop/rock) has been "trendy" in L.A. and NYC for a while. Ultimately, the driving force behind it is that it mixes today's sounds (hip-hop) with music from the 80s and creates a situation where white thirty somethings can feel cool and also be familiar with the music. That demographic has money to spend. I personally hate it and you will rarely hear a mash-up at OPM (where I reside).
  3. The way I see it is if there are some people who shouldn't be wearing skimpy bathing suits, acting a fool, then just look the other way and focus on whoever floats your boat. Both Rehab and GVR are killer parties. Rehab is bigger, plays more hip-hop and attracts some of the hottest people. GVR is all house music, much smaller, more local and also attracts many hotties. So choose what works for you and don't let either spot ruin your weekend
  4. Thursday July 14: DJ Rectangle + $1.25 drinks until midnight! Friday & Saturday: Masterweb / Andy Gil -- Fight weekend - will be extremely packed. Sunday: Double the Reggae featuring live band Bonafide in the Orchid Room. OPM Nightclub in the Forum Shops @ Caesars Strict Dress Code Enforced Guest List: www.freevegasclubs.com/opm/guestlist.html
  5. No disrespect but his current show is very boring. I think Vivid will be a better choice for hip-hop heads.
  6. Good thing you gave the heads up. I'm tight with the program directors at MTV. I think they may be interested in this thread. We'll see.
  7. Its on the strip - corner of Harmon (across the street from Alladin)
  8. Sounds great - just give me the heads up before you come so I can set you up nice.
  9. Hey is there a line a link to that article online?
  10. I wish I had the slightest idea what you're talking about. I apologize if I don't speak first grade ebonics. Luckily for me, I hold down a party for 2000+ people each weekend and they don't seem to mind... I guess they aren't a "down crowd" who wouldn't "accept" "exceptions" LOL! Your attempt to insult the djs who rock the biggest parties in Vegas has failed miserably. All you have accomplished is to make yourself look like a moron without an important message, who can't speak or spell.
  11. Crowd can be a bit pretentious at times though (you mentioned you didn't want stuck up).
  12. Nice explanation greenie. Everyone is converting over to serato. Plus the new version will include support for mp4s (which include video).
  13. Actually, the way it really works for low and middle rollers is that the casino uses formulas to derive your "theoretical loss" based on how much the house will win per hour if you were to play the way you play over a long period of time. For example, if you play basic strategy blackjack and bet $100 a hand, the house has about a $1.50 advantage every time you place a bet, so they calculate $1.50 times the amount of hands you play per hour. That is your hourly "theo" loss. Then they allocate up to 20% to 40% of that theo loss towards soft comps. A soft comp is something that you receive for free, which would have cost you money out of pocket without the comp, but doesn't cost the casino the actual amount you would have paid. Example, a room comp doesn't cost the casino the amount you would have paid --- but reimbursing for an airline ticket would cost them full price -- a "hard" comp. It's very hard to get hard comps unless you are a higher roller. Plus, if you are a high roller, the casino may also honor "discounts" in which you get paid back a certain percentage of your loss that trip (assuming you lose). The problem with today's corporate casinos, and all the merging, is that the casinos are lowering their comp percentages, so it is harder to get good comps. However for soft comps like pool beds, it is still pretty easy, since it costs the casino so little to do so. The moral to the comp story still remains the same - if you don't ask, you won't receive - so always talk to a host or someone in player development, and remember, your goal is to sell them on how much your play may add up for their theoretical wins -- because hosts are paid based on your theoretical (and also note that they are incentivized to not overcomp so you still need to make them feel you will play a lot).
  14. OPM... http://www.freevegasclubs.com/opm/guestlist.html
  15. Advice. #1 if you gamble, talk to someone in player development. #2 if you don't gamble, tell the concierge you will throw them a $50 if he/she can make it happen.
  16. Nice post but I disagree about the 3 to 5 venues a night. I think only some people enjoy that. Personally I'd rather not fight the traffic on the streets and the chaos in front of each club, just to leave for another venue. One great spot a night works for me and many others. Also a point to reiterate something you said - and this has been said many times before. A 10 in most cities is a 6 in Vegas - ladies we love you - but do remember that. And fellas, nobody at the door cares if you are a 10 or a 1 so its not worth even going there
  17. LOL I've actually seen 20:1 before 11pm some Saturdays. Tonight, Friday I was very dissapointed because it was only about 2:1 LOL. Hope y'all enjoy your weekend.

    Crazy!

Not sure what they expanded - but when I last visited about a half a year ago, it was by far the most poorly managed capacity situation I have ever experienced. And from what I keep hearing, things are still just as bad - but that's just opinions - I know a lot of people like it too
  19. sorry if i jumped at your opinion - its my job to defend the club - and if you kept it real then im sorry for the reaction - have a great week.
  20. Thanks for the props bluecharlston. Just FYI, on Thursdays I am the promoter for OPM so I only opened that night because Andy was stuck at the station. If you want to see how we really do, I work most of Saturday nights at OPM 10pm to 12:30am and then 2am to 6am and the party is nuts. The first shift would probably be the most enjoyable for the mainstream crowd who enjoy tunes they know and the 5:1 ladies to fellas ratios. Andy's 12:30am to 2am shift are the big hits and he does talk onthe mic a lot. My 2am to 6am shift is more hardcore (less mic work) and very progressive as far as hip-hop goes...

    Crazy!

Definitely not hating here but that place is SO small that it doesnt surprise me there's a big line to get in. Other than the table area, I'd be surprised if over 500 people can fit in there. I personally hate Tangerine because I'm a big guy and simply cannot figure out how to move in there. I think it feels like you're partying in a small tent. I haven't been in there since the renovation so maybe everything I'm saying is outdated.
  22. That's ok - I'm working on a private pool party idea - thanks to Tony for suggesting that idea... I'll keep you informed...
  23. ... LOL ... which in the case of OPM ... dance floor grinding and three-layer chocolate souffele actually share many similarites!!
  24. They will be updated tomorrow. See you at the club.
  25. Let me tell you about this upcoming weekend -- one word.... UNDERRATED!! July 4 weekend is never as big as Memorial or Labor Day weekends HOWEVER the actual July 4 falls on a Monday this year -- so it actually will be busy as hell this weekend. No fireworks to distract the clubgoers since it falls on a MONDAY -- and its a 3 day weekend for nearly EVERYONE!!!! AND for some reason there are very few special events in the clubs this weekend - which means the HOT SPOTS will be HOTTER than ever because there's very little going on to bring people to special events away from the hot spots. Expect ICE, LIGHT, PURE, B.E., OPM, TANGERINE, REHAB to be nearly impossible to get in unless you show up by 11pm or earlier, especially Saturday and Sunday.
