  2. Looks like OPM will be featuring Kid Capri. More details to follow...
  3. Honestly for Sunday night, you simply cannot go wrong with B.E. or Light - always guaranteed good packed parties and lots of hot chicks. OPM is very diverse and urban on Sundays so its not for everyone. Risque is hit or miss. Rum Jungle is 10 times better on Mondays than Sundays. I don't think I can recommend any other parties on Sunday nights.
  4. About 20 friends and I went to Studio 54 on Tuesday Nov 8 to celebrate a friend's bday. We all work in the industry. We reserved a table area and 3 bottles. First off I want to give props to DJ P. He is a very awesome DJ and he read the crowd nicely, mixed and timed very well. Ironically, with all the talk on this board about djs using technology, DJ P uses a digital echo/effects machine so I guess he cheats like the rest of us LOL! He also puts "cheat tape" on his vinyl to mark the cue spots (which is fine in my book but some would argue that a "real" vinyl dj doesn't do that either LOL)! The club was only half full at best and appeared to attract mostly 25 to 45 crowd, who looked like they were tourists. OK for the hustle part - and this is pretty despicable in my opinion. Our group tipped the waitress 30% of the bill by 2am and someone who claimed he was a manager went up to the birthday girl in our group and complained to her that we didn't tip the waitress enough yet! I don't have names yet, but that is pretty much a guaranteed way to alienate local industry bottle buyers if you ask me. It was probably the most obnoxious hustle I have ever experienced in this town. What's your thoughts on that?
  5. They play house in one of the three rooms at Foundation Mondays.
  6. Are Tao and Pure even open on Sunday? Most people go to Body English or Light (or OPM for urban) on Sundays.
  7. I would suggest checking out Beacher's Madhouse a few times to see how they do it because the concept is similar.

  9. At this point, it seems the best Thursday parties are at... LeBete Tao OPM Light Tabu
  10. Don't give it away - just ask for a manager when you come back to town and they will likely honor it.
  11. It would really help if you gave us a hint about your preferences.
  12. Mr. VIP is a frequent contributor to this board.
  13. Great point. There is also validity to the possibility that some people spread misguided information as well and some of the tourists in that thread would have been better served to know that if they think the crowd is hot at Bikinis, then the crowd is BLAZING at Body English. Also, a side note, Bikinis just closed their relatively long running Thursday nights. Goes to show that if a club doesn't keep up with the pace, they will be left behind in the race in a competitive market like Vegas.

  15. If you want to see a perfect example of uninformed tourist perspective, check this out for shits and giggles... http://www.lasvegastalk.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=12772&highlight=opm
  16. Should be interesting. This whole Freemont renovation should be interesting in general. Being an East Coast boy myself, I remember when Atlantic City was hyping up the new casino (Borgata) in their bay section of town and how it would change service levels and reputations, etc. Yes, its opening created more traffic to that area of town, but it could never escape the inevitable bad NJ-style service and it never changed the reputation of miserable Atlantic city staff and customers. I have a hunch that no matter what happens on Freemont Street that it will always carry a stigma with it that will keep the high end business on the strip - time will tell...
  17. LOL how can something make a comeback when its already dominating the scene? That's like offering a poll asking if gas prices will become expensive. And by the way, no disrespect intended Just being a smart ass.
  18. What? They used Serato and the crowd still loved them? Must have been a lame crowd huh
  19. As much as many of us locals hate to admit (or realize) it, Rain is still extremely popular (albeit among all tourists). Many out of town people associate Vegas with Rain when it comes to nightlife. Most of these people don't seem to be true clubbers. However bachelorette parties and young groups of frat boys just turned 21 seem to embrace it like no other.
  20. Speaking of which, MrVIP we have a new opportunity for independent hosts that we just finalized. Feel free to contact me at djmw@freevegasclubs.com if you would like to possibly get involved with that. Thanks.
  21. Kid and Fatman will be working their own separate nights, once a month - always on Fridays. We are trying to bring Fridays to the level of crazy support we see each and every Saturday. On Saturdays, the formula remains the same every single week... I open with R&B and lady-friendly tracks, Andy plays the recurrent and mainstream hits 12 to 1:30ish and then I go off and play the really hot shit, mixed in with regional stuff (like Bay area) and Reggae until we finally tire everyone out and go slower from 4:30ish to almost 6. Andy also stays involved on the mic all night - keeps the party hype but he delivers it in a way that is friendly and classy. And as anyone knows, Saturday nights are ridiculously packed and just getting stronger each week.
  22. I think the reason OPM doesn't get the same coverage as the other spots is because it's the most NON-Vegas venue in town. People don't generally go there to see a new achievement, expensive decorations, multi-million dollar special effects, a huge dance floor, a killer view (damn you get to see the forum shops), or the hottest models and mainstream celebrities. OPM has always been an underdog and didn't even kick off to success until its second year in existance after it finally indentified and embraced its unique niche. The reason the place works, well for one, is that it employs grassroot promotional people like me who make sure its mentioned everywhere from this forum to everywhere online to ALL over the streets (street credibility is huge right now for the club) to all the hot radio stations to all the big events taking place in town and to all existing customers with weekly personal followups. But the REAL reason OPM works is because it embraces what every other venue in town DOESN'T want... *Minority customers* who are LOYAL, PEACEFUL, MUSICLY EDUCATED, WELL DRESSED and ALL ABOUT THE HIP-HOP SCENE! It's the only INDEPENDENT venue on the strip... brought BY the people FOR the people, and the end result is tremendous word of mouth and repeat business. Since the club enforces such STRICT dress code rules and deploys FRIENDLY but STRONG security presence including hand picked metro police officers on the weekends, you will never see any negative incidents to support some of the initial stigma that surrounds a true hip-hop spot. Oh and the ultimate reason the club works is that OPM focuses on the music - you don't see supermodels djs who look great but can't spin for their life - instead you always get a good product if you love hip-hop ---- and finally every person who comes in there now feels the club does care about them - groups of ladies are offered free seats early with no bottles or fees, every lady drinks free bubbly til midnight, and fellas know there will always be a ton of ladies (5:1 or more) early so everyone wins!!
