  1. We're still working on the hip-hop lineup. Looking like Kid Capri on Friday. Fatman scoop and others that weekend. Possibly a bay act like e-40, keak da sneak that Sunday.
  2. I recommend you spend a few minutes and read the posts in this forum. This is the most discussed topic here.
  3. The Bunny Ranch.
  4. Also fight weekend (including Thursday) brings out a lot of dudes. OPM where I work had many more dudes than usual this week too, but not in tees haha.
  5. Yup you're right, especially if you're a self appointed member of the elite My post was not meant to disrespect those guys at all (sorry if it came off that way) - It was actually addressing the policy to allow a party to turn into a sausage fest. Looked like 4:1 males to females. Best way to lose a good night when another new spot goes after it.
  6. Wow, in the napkinnights pic from Thursday night at Tao, it sure looks like they need to work on their ratios. And this is a dance floor shot, scary. http://vegas.napkinnights.com/pics/view_image.php?id=175364 Holy sausage fest... http://vegas.napkinnights.com/pics/view_image.php?id=175389 And sorry to sound like I'm hating, but what's up with dudes in t-shirts. It's easy to even ratios out if you turn away males who can't throw on some upscale attire... http://vegas.napkinnights.com/pics/view_image.php?id=175419
  7. 411 Ask for Tao in Las Vegas. Then ask for a VIP host.
  8. This has very little to do with street credibility, balls, or hip-hop. It has to do with having the perfect excuse to charge big dollars at the door and make some serious profit. I know OPM will be charging about $100 to $150 admission (and will have no problem at all filling the place times 3) that whole weekend and it will be without a celebrity dj. I can see door prices approaching $150 to $200 with a big act. $200 times 1000 heads is $200,000 which justifies a $75,000 act, even if the place would have sold $125 times 1000 without an act.
  9. My guess is that he left Pure off Fri/Sat due to their policy of allowing too many people in, creating an environment of discomfort.
  10. Great post bro!! I just want to add that two of the regular hour spots have specific niches. Ice generally caters to people who enjoy electronic dance music. OPM caters to a diverse well dressed urban crowd who enjoy straight hip-hop, reggae and r&b. The other clubs are newer, expensively laid out, and generally offer a mix of different musics in different rooms, catering primarily to an attractive mainstream crowd.
  11. I'm happy you enjoyed OPM so much your last trip. Thursday I'd definitely recommend TAO as first choice. Friday all three other choices are great. I personally recommend Tryst because it is a beautiful club attracting a more mature crowd. It will also provides a complete contrast to the more urban "get down and sweat, get your swurv on" atmosphere you'll enjoy at OPM on Saturday! Contact me before you come to OPM so I can set things up right for you. -djmw
  12. For those who are not on the email list (signup at www.o-pm.com)... Here's the latest newsletter sent today... First off, you need to RUSH to the local record store or iTunes and grab the new E-40 album "My Ghetto Report Card"... just released! This album is FIRE and it will make HUGE WAVES everywhere! The Bay Area Hyphy movement is in full effect baby! E-40's lead single "Tell Me When To Go" could possibly be the biggest club banger to hit the scene since "In Da Club" by 50 cent and "Yeah" by Usher! It must be getting big when KID CAPRI arrived at OPM last Friday with "GET HYPHY GO DUMB" imprinted on his shirt... And then he dropped "Tell Me When To Go" FOUR TIMES to an AMAZINGLY ENERGETIC crowd each time. OPM was the first nightclub on the Las Vegas strip to embrace the hot new Bay Area Hip-Hop music trend! And the best part is that the club's upscale environment and great vibe perfectly demonstrate how the Hyphy movement as we know it is all about good times, energetic dancing, and safe fun, the way it should be!! Now shake them dreads and put your stunna shades on cause this party is just getting started! OK back to business I wan't to clarify how OPM's guest list works currently. Please realize we do limit the amount of guest list names per night so call us as soon as you know what night you want to come to the club. Call 702-369-4998 and we will put your name on the guest list for any night we are open except some special or holiday events. You'll need to tell us how many people you want to bring along. You and your party will be able to skip the general line before 11pm. Plus all ladies will get in free, and all gentlemen will get in at a discounted rate, usually $15 per gentleman. Remember, this list is good from 10pm to 11pm, no later. Please note that everyone will need to be dressed within our upscale dress code. I also want to reiterate our cover charges (assuming you are not on the list or arrive after 11pm). Local ladies are always free until midnight, then $10 (except free all night on Caliente Wednesdays). Local gentlemen $20. Out of town ladies $20. Out of town gentlemen $20 to $30 depending on the event. Military gets to skip the line, regular cover applies. If you come as a group of gentlemen, please realize OPM is one of the few popular clubs in town that will even allow your group to enter at all. Luckily OPM enjoys a huge female following due to the club's safe, fun and upscale reputation, so our ratios are always good even including our policy to allow groups of males to enter. Event schedule (free champagne for ladies every night from 10pm to midnight): Wednesday March 15: OPM Nightclub proudly presents the One Year Anniversary of Caliente Wednesdays, the hottest latin night on the Las Vegas Strip. This is the only night OPM flips the script! La Kalle 99.3 brings you the best in Reggaeton, Hip-Hop, Salsa, Merengue, and Cumbia brought to you by NYC's DJ Majesty and LA's DJ Billz, DJ Leo, and DJ Dave Dog. Ladies can come and participate in the Miss reggaeton shakedown to win a free a vip table and a bottle of Effen vodka. For the Caliente Wednesday's one year anniversary we will be giving away many more prizes. Plus half price coronas until midnight. Thursday March 16: March Madness JUMP OFF! Hip-Hop in the main room with Dre Dae. Old School in the Orchid room with DJ Benzo and Carlaya... Open seating available in the Orchid Room! $1.25 Big Apple Martinis from 10pm to midnight. 13. Call 702-369-4998 to get on the guest list.
  14. OPM plays "nothing but Hip-Hop" (albeit not underground) and caters to a well dressed ethnicly diverse crowd. www.o-pm.com
  15. It's the same as mixing cds, except the timeline of the video (that you would see on MTV for example) stays synced to the timeline of the audio. So if the DJ paused the music, the video would pause, and if he scratches the music, the video would go reverse and forward with the music. And if he brought in another song, a new video would come in at the same time.
  16. With all due respect, CDs skip too but I understand your point. Here's a funny observation though... Last night Kid Capri rocked OPM but he opened his set with CDs. That's right he was using the Pioneers and I gotta tell you, he was uncomfortable. But he had to use it, why? Because he had to rock a bay area set and he doesn't have the vinyl for any of that stuff. He still did his thing. He played "Tell Me When To Go (e-40, keak da sneak)" FOUR times in two hours and each time the crowd went NUTS. The funniest part is that he notices the Bay Area craze and is fascinated by it. He even wore a tee shirt that said "I'm getting hyphy and going dumb." He stopped the music a few times and paid respect to the forefathers of Bay Area hip-hop. That was very cool and I respect him even more for doing that. Tonight I am honored to share the decks with DJ Rectangle, D.M.C. champ from the 90s. He knows how to energize any crowd. -DJMW
  17. OPM, email me (MasterWeb) at djmw@freevegasclubs.com We don't care if your party is all males because we already attract 5:1 females before midnight with our existing promos.
  18. My opinion is that Vegas has expanded its nightclub offerings so quickly that the dj talent pool is spread thin, just like when the NFL added expansion teams. I have never before seen so many djs in one town who cannot even beat match, let alone scratch and chop, etc. And these guys keep finding work. It amazes me as well.
  19. Mixing DVDs is unique in that it incorporates video with the audio. I've heard that the Pioneer DVJ-X1s can't be manufactured quickly enough to meet the demand right now. I don't know anything about the Studio 54 battle, but DVD mixing is viewed as the next generation of djing among some of today's DJs. I believe the next Serato release will also include the option to mix video files (it may already be available).
  20. This is more of a general tip. Note that your group's attitude at the door can make a huge difference in your chances to get in, if you come as a group of 4 or more dudes with no chicks. For example, if anyone in your group gets bent out of shape when the doorman gives you a hard time, prepare to cough up serious toke cash or you're not getting in. On the other hand, if you stay cool and cooperative, the door will be more willing to negotiate with you. Also remember, the doorman does not care that you will "spend a lot on alcohol" inside and you are also not as important in his eyes as you say you are when you tell him where you work or who you know, unless it's somebody with whom he is a personal friend.
  21. Well it's the peak of Spring Break and the beginning of March Madness. Maybe it's not an error.
  22. Any music preferences? If you care most about the chicks and less about the music the hot spots are Tao, Tryst, Pure, Body English and Jet. If you want all hip-hop and R&B I suggest OPM. If you like house music, Ice.
  23. Good line up except stick to Jet on Monday. Also consider Tangerine on Wednesday (it's more packed), even though the music and space to breath are way better at Vivid on Wednesday. Best advise, go to the spots at 10pm so your passes will work and you won't have to deal with too much crowd chaos at the door. Also wear nice shoes and a button up collared shirt to avoid any dress code problems. If you pick up any ladies before you go to the club, ask them to join you. Your chances of getting in without hassle are drastically improved if you show up with females.
  24. Maybe if you added some specific clues as to what you're looking for, we could help you.
