  1. There's no third party verification. The winners are probably already determined.
  2. It's impressive how you are able to determine that a dj is pretending from outside the dj booth. Why are you and your good friend Freeze so concerned with that other djs do and how they are fake or pretending, this and that? It's getting a little old, at least to me. And as far as I know, you're both backseat drivers anyway.
  3. Yes and it comes off as completely biased when the poll is being held on a nightclub's own web site domain. I gotta tell you, this poll is causing a real stir on local radio too. It's RIDICULOUS to not only leave off the djs mentioned earlier in this thread, but what about including ONE dj from Hot 97.5, the only radio station that features several mix shows every day. I mean CMON, what about DJ Franzen (OPM) the West coast DJ OF THE YEAR, or D-money (club 702) or Phaness (Ra, Vivid). Yes, these djs cater to "those other people" but they are on top of their game and deserve to be included along with everyone else.
  4. LOL this has been fun but I'm exhausted. Kid Capri ripped it up tonight at OPM. The huge crowd loved it, and for some reason nobody asked where the bboys or graffiti artists were? And Kid played all the NEW stuff, including Ying Yang Twins! I guess Kid Capri and his crowd don't know real hip-hop either Just playing. Anyway, we do it all over tomorrow. Kid Capri in the main room and DJ Franzen spinning vinyl in the Orchid room, dropping all the hot stuff from the Bay! Come early. $30 cover for all (which will go up to $50 after we hit capacity around 11:30 or 12:00), no passes, no free guest list.
  5. LOL I can just see you screaming in a bullhorn in front of NYNY Hotel... "Its a fraud its a fraud, i'm from the REAL NY and this place is a fraud." Dude, it's LAS VEGAS. Only a fool in this city would scream FRAUD when he sees a mainstream version of a product, not actual culture from 1979. One day you'll get it, probably on a plane heading back home.
  6. The part that's so hard for me to understand is why you are so obsessed with what other clubs are doing rather than channel your energies getting the good word out on your real hip-hop night. Here's one for you... If you feel a cd mixing dj is not a real dj, what would you call a promoter who attempts to promote a night by insulting everyone else on a message board. Real promoters get the word out by hitting the streets, finding advertising avenues to reach target customers, spreading the word using positive press, etc. Why are you wasting your time here, alienating potential customers?
  7. OK we suck and I have no skills. Come early to avoid getting shut out. Lots of sheep looking to drop $30 to $50 to see how bad we are.
  8. Freeze can try to bait me as many times as he wants. I don't dj to show off, or see my picture on flyers or any of that. I just enjoy being part of a hot spot every week. People don't come to the club to watch the dj juggle vinyl. They dance and hook up, etc. This is Vegas. People come here to have fun. Nobody cares if a dj uses vinyl or 8 track tapes for that matter. Other than Freeze, I have not had one person EVER come up to us and ask why we don't spin records. It's completely irrelevant. But it makes him happy to argue about this every day, so be it, whatever floats his jealous boat.
  9. Also sign up on the mailing list at http://www.o-pm.com/email_listing_splash.html to get front-of-the-line access to upcoming Sunday HIP-HOP events at OPM including... D4L "Laffy Taffy" live performance. Ladies Night Out Superbowl Sunday (first stop Chippendales). David Banner LIVE President's Day weekend (almost official) Keak Da Sneak and E-40 Four huge spring break bashes! And March Madness ladies night!
  10. Good post bro. For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would attack a DJ for using whatever medium he wants to use, to throw an established party. It's pure jealousy, and in this case trolling for attention too.

Magic week! Thursday will be nuts.
  12. Note, please arrive early. Sunday lines grow to hundreds of people by 10:30pm.
  13. It may seem like it, but I don't know one dj who even owns a program that mixes for them. Don't buy into the Mr. Freeze's garbage. He still thinks Serato beat matches for djs.
  14. Somehow you knew the dj played premixed cds, by site no less. Wondering, what was the title of these pre-mixed cds since you "saw" it? Could it have been funkymix where the songs are "re"mixed or was it MTV dance party or something else? Just curious.
  15. Kid Capri loves OPM so much that he's coming back for a TWO day performance this weekend... Saturday AND Sunday night with Kid Capri this weekend (MLK weekend)! Funkmaster Flex tore it up last weekend to a full crowd. His return date will be announced shortly. Fatman Scoop later this month too! Finally, the big announcement! D4L to perform it's HUGE hit "LAFFY TAFFY" along with new singles... SUNDAY NIGHT JANUARY 22! This event WILL sell out, and expect a 10:1 female to male ratio! Any questions, email djmw@freevegasclubs.com OPM Nightclub in the Forum Shops @ Caesars Strict upscale dress code enforced.
  16. I respect your statement but the part I quoted above is completely the opposite of the reality in my situation at least. We run a privately held operation, and my role is essential to the business. But that's neither here nor there. This is no pissing match. That would suggest a competition.
  17. I must admit, being located in a CLOSED mall at 2am really brings in the masses. OPM has the WORST trafficked location of any club in Las Vegas. The reason people go has nothing to do with Caesars Palace, except that it's easy to give directions. Regardless, we'll go on playing all that fake hip-hop and entertaining the masses, and you go right ahead and show how much you care.
  18. Luckily our terrible marketing scheme seems to continue paying off week after week. And it also seems to make a big impact on your daily routine since you are so very much concerned over what we do. So we'll keep making all those mistakes, and you keep printing flyers with a picture of yourself a thirtysomething male. We'll pack it in 5 nights a week and you'll try filling a spot half the size one night a week, but at least your party will be real hip-hop from 1979. We'll just keep riding the wave with all those wack artists who sell the most records, and we'll enjoy our fake hip-hop without the real hip-hop artists who haven't produced a hit in 20 years but at least they can still dance around on their head.
  19. To the average Vegas clubgoer who spends money at clubs, hip-hop is defined as rap music they know and love, along with some new beats that can be associated with other music they already know. This music makes them dance and sometimes rap along, and everyone has a great time. So please don't come up on here and state that hip-hop 101 somehow contradicts a well established and accepted definition. Obviously the hip-hop "culture/lifestyle" and hip-hop music aren't the same thing, but when a product is offered in a mainstream tourist town, it usually caters to the masses. Lil Jon and Ying Yang are perfect examples of artists who make music that's played at hip-hop music clubs and sold at hip-hop music record stores and downloaded at hip-hop music internet services and played on hip-hop music radio stations and television programs. Yes it's true. To the consumer, those guys represent hip-hop even if you don't personally agree. So you can argue this until you turn blue in the face. Meanwhile the rest of us are laughing our ways to the bank. Sorry not to sound arrogant, but this whole hip-hop conversation is so silly. Feel free to not jump on the bandwagon. Vegas is probably the worst city in the country to fight what most people want.
  20. Alright I'll bite. WMC = Winter Music Conference

This weekend we are featuring the return of Kid Capri both Saturday and Sunday night. If either of you would like to join us, please let me know and I will take care of the accomodations. It's a three day weekend and a fight weekend. Will be crazy.
  22. *Nobody* pre-programs their sets out here. They have some proven sequences that work, but it's live.
  23. I have to admit, that was pretty funny. Curious, why are you listening to all those fake hip-hop songs on the radio? Perhaps you're tired of the 80's station? Be sure to listen to your radio with a tube box since a real radio listener doesn't use advanced circuits. It's still the 80s right?
