  1. If any of you gamble, you should bring this matter to the director of player development and maybe they will comp you to compensate. At the very least, you should contact Bellagio management and don't let this one go. Get your money back for the covers you paid! And also don't waste your time at Light anyway. There are so many better choices without the hassle, ie. Body English, Ra, Pure, OPM, Tangerine, Tabu, Ice...
  2. Hi, no disrespect to anyone over there at Ra, I would strongly recommend you only go to Ra on Thursdays for hip-hop, and Wednesdays for electronic. On Fridays and Saturdays you have many better choices available to you. For hip-hop, OPM is definitely the better party on Saturday. For a mix of music, Pure, Body English, Tangerine, Ice are all very hot spots right now. But with that said, if you chose to go to Ra on Saturday, there is a host from Ra that frequents this message board and I'm sure he can set you up nicely when he sees this thread.
  3. Presidents day weekend will be NUTS at OPM so if you go Friday, Saturday or Sunday that weekend - you MUST get there by midnight or risk getting shut out. Also, free passes will NOT be accepted that whole weekend. From what we understand, Caesars security and LVMPD will likely block access to certain areas of the Forum Shops if the line gets too out of control - and based on recent history, three day weekends seem to be a huge draw at the club, so again, I strongly recommend you get there between 10pm to 11pm ... midnight the latest. OPM is all about upscale hip-hop if that's your flava. The other spots Bill Le mentioned are also beautiful but their brand of hip-hop is also mixed in with rock and not really true to people who come mainly for the real hip-hop vibe.
  4. Haha its ok. After reading your fun exchanges with box etc I dont blame you for blocking it out of your mind LOL. It's all good but I would definitely include us for hip-hop, R&B and reggae. As far as rock, house, techno, trance, mash-ups, disco, etc., OPM should be far away from that list DJ MW
  5. LOL you may want to include the club that actually brings the most amount of people each week and, oh yeah, voted #1 across the country LOL... http://digitalcity.com/lasvegas/bestdanceclubs/?page=main&tab=nightlife
  6. That is not true. If you enforce a strict dress code, run your night like an upscale operation, and properly train your security staff then ghetto is not an appropriate generalization.
  7. Actually Ra on Thursdays does attract some pretty hot ladies. The most attractive crowd I have seen was at MIX. Also Pure Tuesdays, not to mention Foundation Mondays and Tangerine Wednesdays. I think if you go to any of the "locals nights" you will see the best Vegas has to offer. Oh did I mention Saphires???? There the eye candy actually acts like they want to be your friend!!!! (for the right price of course!)
  8. Well to be honest we switched up Sundays. We now do the dancehall reggae in the second room and a very urban hip-hop format in the main room. Depending on the week, Sundays can get extremely busy there but this week will be a slow week in town in general so I don't think Sunday will be a problem anywhere before midnight. If you want to get in to the club free, just call 702-369-4998 between 5pm to 9pm and ask to be put on DJ MasterWeb's guest list.
  9. I know that clubplanet and napkinnights members have a bigger electronic following than the average mainstream clubgoer, so the following may not apply to all the readers here, but nevertheless I think it is ok for me to brag about this http://digitalcity.com/lasvegas/bestdanceclubs/?page=main&tab=nightlife Also note that a lot of this past year's new clubs were not on the list at all.
  10. Based on your post, I would recommend that you DO hit up Ice both nights. Or maybe check out DJ AM at Body English on Saturday. He gets pretty creative with his hip-hop / mash-up work.
  11. Bikinis is still open in the Rio every Thursday through Sunday. They have a latin night on Sunday which is doing well. The other nights are not really recognized as hot nights anymore but they can still be fun especially if you are staying at the Rio. However you have a better in-house option on Saturdays, Club Rio, which also has the longest running Latin night on Thursdays.
  12. Nothing but respect for you guys but this is probably never going to happen. I used to dj a trance show in NY for 4 years. But that scene is a dying breed. Club drugs are not big anymore. Plus radio does not support fast music anymore. Vegas is all about mainstream and that means more hip-hop and less electronic. Think about it. Ice is the only electronic club out of 27 clubs in town, and they have trouble bringing a big crowd more than one night a week. And they have big name djs in there almost every week. I would like to see things shift towards electronic again but unfortunately there may not be enough people looking for that niche at this time. And the "top-40" radio stations need to rotate in a few dance tracks too because now it's almost all hip-hop.
  13. AM @ OPM lasted 3 days. It was not a good match. The hip-hop crowd did not want to leave at 4am - and when we tried to transition into house, all it did was piss off all of our regular customers. Plus there were some other issues that were resolved by just focusing on what already works at OPM and that is the hip-hop niche that has made the club so popular. Tony and Gino are great guys. They should find a location that is not already crackin at 4am with regular business. It will be a better long-lasting match.
  14. I would have to disagree with that statement. OPM is at capacity by 11:30-11:45 every Saturday night and by midnight its full chaos at the door. However I've been told Ice has an amazing party on Saturday nights and its the only electronic main room in town. Fridays might not be as easy to build. We'll see...
  15. LOL, Atlantic City. The Trump Taj execs still think Louie Devito is a good live DJ because his NYC Underground series sold a lot.
  16. July 4 falls on a Monday this year too! Memorial day is much busier. The weather is not 110 and there are many more people here than July 4 weekend. Yes I know, REHAB is poppin both holidays LOL but at least Memorial day will not give you third degree burns in 10 minutes!! The two best times to come to Vegas if you like it crazy... NYE and Memorial Day, hands down.
  17. C'mon man that's not cool. Just because Hollywood didn't know your request, I don't think it's cool to bash him here like that. He is a respected DJ here in town. You have to realize something about Vegas. It's NOT New York. I know, because I lived in Essex County NJ for nearly my whole life. The scene in NY is VERY differerent. People in NY are very educated clubbers in general. They know the djs. They know the music. If you break a new song, NYC loves it. Most other markets, people need to know the hook already or they look up at the DJ like he's on crack. Vegas DJs need to please people from every area around the country, so with the exception of a few niche parties, most of the music is mainstream. Anyway you have the right to your opinion, but realize this is not NYC and it's easy to hate on a dj because he doesn't know a track, but realize that NYC anthems often never reach west of Philly.
  18. Also the NYC / Long Island "tribal" sound has never made it out this far west - nor would it work out here yet.
  19. I think Studio will eventually be forced to merge their Tuesday into Thursday night because Pure will definitely steal Tuesdays. The next big club to open should go after Thursday. That's really the only weeknight that doesn't have a big local domination other than the urban hip-hop crowd at Ra Thursday.
  20. Where in the USA? It would be cool to see them open in Vegas and watch em battle it out with Ice.
  21. No offense but what's the big deal about a $5 cab ride to be in one of the hippest spots in town. Most of your travelling with be cabbed anyway no matter where you stay.
  22. Overall Rating: B+ Well today started off on the wrong foot. I sent one of their VIP hosts, Richard Chu, an email asking for a table for 8 people, 2 paid bottles, etc. I also told him who I was and I was professional and polite. I received a rude, impersonal response with no attempt to help. This was the whole response... "All tables have been booked." No signature, just that unprofessional response. I then called a few people at Pure and found out that tables WERE available so I have no idea why Richard sent me that email. Well luckily the rest of the staff was quite the opposite when we arrived. A wonderful service experience followed... When we got there - the door staff was smiling, talking with people, listening to people. They had 4 staff members handling the guest list when it was busy - that's right ... 4 staff members and then after the list line shortened, it appeared that the club assigned that staff to go around to the tables and ask people if everything was ok. As soon as we were seated, 2 waitresses and a waitress assistant introduced themselves - all so pleasant. Then the SECURITY people individually introduced themselves and said if we needed anything they were there to help. Now THAT is VIP service. The waitresses came back EVERY FIVE MINUTES and poured / refilled our drinks and asked if they could get us something. Plus the waitresses were smart. For example, a lot of people came to our booth because we know a lot of industry people -- and the waitress tried to boost my ego and say wow you sure are popular - "I'm impressed," she added -- veteran waitress move to make the VIP feel special and probably help her tip jar while she's at it. Then a host came up to our booth and COMPED one of the bottles. I didn't even ask for that!!! When we left, 4 individual staff members said good night to us on the way out - shaking hands with EVERY guy that left and being extremely friendly to the ladies - in a professional way. As far as the physical club itself. It was beautiful and huge. Others have reviewed the physical aspects of the club already so I want go into details. The music on the balcony was house -and it was flawlessly mixed and well programmed - total props - I didn't look to see who the dj was. The music in the red room (not sure what the room is called) was djed by OB-one. When I went in that room he was playing old skewl and classics. OB-one is a great dj -- good call by Pure. The main room was packed and played music similar to that of Body English. primarily Hip-Hop, Rock and party anthems. I'm not sure who was djing but the mixing was not too good and the programming was acceptable but definitely not anywhere near the quality of hip-hop at Ra or OPM. However the crowd was so happy to be at this new beautiful spot so I don't think anyone minded. And people were just loaded. A better DJ in the main room could have brought the roof down with that prime crowd. The one thing that I did not like at all was the amount of dumb drunk sausages in the building. I hope the ratios get better even though the ladies that were there provided some amazing scenary. All in all - the amazing service made the night wonderful. The physical club is just beautiful -- and the outdoor area will be a huge hit when it gets warmer. The house music in the outdoor area is perfect. They just need to tighten up their main room talent.
  23. Yes good advice. Mix is a beautiful warmup spot - a must see at least once... A bit stuffy at times though - but the awesome room and view make up for it... Pure is new, huge and beautiful. Ice has the only real electronic party during regular hours and is always jumping on Saturdays. OPM is a good choice only if your party loves hip-hop. The crowd on Saturdays @ OPM is very diversified but the popularity of that niche causes a big headache to get in after midnight. For Saturday I would suggest Mix before 11pm... then hit up OPM if you want hip-hop... the early party is mainstream... then walk down to Pure and enjoy its beauty... then end your night at Ice... Best of all worlds
  24. Hard Rock is always busy Friday and Saturday nights. Young 21 to 30 crowd. Center bar is always hopping - lots of "beautiful" people. Body English is always busy Friday and Saturday nights - but harder to get into on Saturdays. Talented djs play primarily hip-hop, rock, mashups and some house.
