  1. Good luck in Vegas. Enjoy yourself and be sure to tell that story to the people who work at the doors. Let them know dress code is crap, and you work out so girls want to see you in your sneakers instead of that fat guy wearing clothes that follow the door policy... I'm sure they will happily let you right in. Also, club 5150 on Decatur just opened up advertising no dress code. Go check it out and feel the vibe of a free-for-all dress code in Vegas. Have fun and... oh almost forgot, Club SRO is another casual dress club... a must visit for someone like you... I don't even think you need to wear anything on your feet.
  2. The bottom line is that each club runs their own policies and rules. If the club will only allow a certain type of dress code then the patrons need to respect the rules or go to another club. And in Vegas it is pretty much standard that the hot regular hour clubs do not admit fellas wearing sneakers, ripped or baggy or patched jeans, jerseys or athletic-wear shirts or caps. Most clubs ask fellas to wear collared button down shirts, nice jeans or slacks, and dress shoes. That's just the name of the game in this town.
  3. I hope nobody takes offense at my attempts to help get a message across. Here's the whole deal that I don't understand. When a lady goes to a club, she usually spends a LOT of effort throwing make up on, getting dressed up and looking their best, right? And yes, some ladies dress down or don't wear makeup and they can still be classy so don't get upset about what I'm saying --- but MOST females spend a LOT of time and effort looking their best to go out. So HOW HARD IS IT for a guy to throw on a freakin button down shirt and shoes???? How in the world can a male complain about that? You can't feel relaxed in a cotton collared shirt - Gimme a break. And does it make that much of an inconvenience to throw shoes on instead of SNEAKERS when you go OUT to club?? Get real and stop whining. Just treat Vegas clubs like they are upscale, which most are, and be happy that you don't have to spend an hour putting a new face on.
  4. You're kidding right? I used to go to Limelight, Tunnel, Paladium and others all the time. In addition to a $30-$35 cover, many had transvestites as the fashion police standing at the door, picking and choosing people based on how they looked. NYC back in the day featured some of the most selective dress code policies ever. However, many post-Juliani clubs are hurting and many will take whoever will show up. This is not the same as the phenomonin in Vegas where all the big clubs have a nearly neverending source of business since well dressed people line up to pay full price and then get in a pay full price for drinks. My advice is only meant to help you. If you come dressed poorly with a bad attitude you will be lucky to get into any of the clubs worth checking out - it's that simple. And no, the door people will not like you no matter how charming you become, unless you are in dress code or buying bottles or showing friendliness by opening your wallet.
  5. Well behind the stratosphere it all depends on the boom box. And fyi, I'm personally from NYC and I'm not sure which part of the city you're from but the clubs that compare to most Vegas venues have similar dress codes. You can wear whatever you want if you go to the bars here. The casinos don't have specific dress code and there are many lounges that you can just chill at. But the real nightclubs all have dress codes - every one of them. Button down collared shirt, nice slacks or jeans that are not baggy, torn or patched, and nice shoes. Oh and there's an attitude code too. Put it this way, if you come off in person to the door staff with the same tone as your messages here, you will be enjoying the club from the area outside of the entrance.
  6. ... during the day, that is. Last year Rehab went off from around noon til 7pm. Then everyone showers up, and gets ready for Body English, Light, Risque, or OPM.
  7. The only thing I find AMAZING about Curve is that its still open for business. That place has been dead for the longest time. Wednesday you may want to check out Ra pleasuredome. Dee "MrVegas" can probably help you out on this board.
  8. Just do me one favor. After you give up on Rain, come to OPM. Rain is the most overrated club in Vegas. 3 hour line filled with drunk immature frat boys that think they're on MTV, no local support, poor music selection (Lean Back followed by "Queen - We are the champions" followed by "Milkshake") I have met few people that enjoy that spot - just read all the Vegas message boards... ClubPlanet.com NapkinNights.com ClubVibes.com Mecca-Entertainment.com You will see one common opinion - Rain sucks. Anyway sorry to ramble - I just can't believe someone who loves hot 97 and 105.1 in NYC would choose Rain over the one club that plays your music all night Saturday, OPM. No disrespect intended and no matter what - have a good time.
  9. Yo Theboy: I guess you don't understand the *reason* Vegas clubs enforce a dress code. It's not crap. It's to keep classy ladies coming back. Ladies don't want to see a bunch of guys looking like they are heading to a frat party. Isn't it worth the effort to wear a collared shirt and nice shoes to party with some of the most beautiful females on the planet? Or I guess you could just head on over to the strip behind the Stratosphere and wear whatever you want.
  10. Poly, I'm from NYC too and if you like Hot 97, or 105.1, then you will find what you are looking for at Ra on Thursday and OPM Friday through Sunday. If you are willing to forego the music as the only reason to go to a club, you should check out Pure on Friday and Body English on Sunday. But I have a feeling you will end up at OPM. Thanks Ed and Dee for the props. Poly, you can sign up for free entry into OPM and get general info at www.o-pm.com/lv If you need bottle service please tell me and I will set you up with the information you will need. Have a great trip and please post a trip report when you get back.
  11. I'm surprised by a few things. Ra Thursdays are the longest running hip-hop night in town. What turned you off if anything? Ice Fridays are hit-or-miss from what I hear from people. I'm surprised you went there at all unless you love electronic music. The next time you come to town (if within the next few months) I would recommend a few changes to your schedule. Check out Pure on Friday. I think you need to try the new hot spot out. And Friday is your best chance to catch a good party without a ridiculous line and overpacking inside. Try OPM on Saturday. It's the busiest night of the week and there are so many hot diverse ladies in the house. And Body English on Sunday. A lot of industry there - hot chicks. Even though I personally like OPM on Sundays because the djs open it up and provide a music product that is true to the people who come without fluffing it up after midnight.
  12. That's awesome -- and Sunday was a wierd night at the club -- VERY late crowd. The other nights (Friday and Saturday) were ridiculously packed after midnight as usual. Also, I noticed you posted at Napkin Nights. I'm sorry if people were obnoxious in response to your request for help. There seems to be a higher than mighty attitude among some of the people who post on that site and I'm happy you didn't take it personally. You seem like a class act and I hope you come back to Vegas sometime soon.
  13. Hey Dee, here's one for ya... http://vegas.napkinnights.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=32861
  14. For anyone who doubted that OPM now attracts some very good looking diverse people, definitely take a look at last night's NapkinNight pics... http://vegas.napkinnights.com/pics/view_album.php?id=1379 You'll notice some real hotties despite a god awful pic of my 14 chins. Tonight, Saturday will be COMPLETELY INSANE and I guarantee that OPM will turn away thousands of people due to capacity. In addition to the usual craziness, LOTS of people are coming to the club after the Alicia Keys concert at the Joint. Please arrive before 11pm if possible -- and all tables are sold out to reserved bottle customers including 30 NY Giants, 2 title boxers, some NBA players and a whole bunch of Ballas. One thing I have noticed is that OPM is now bringing some big celebs and real high rollers, not just "BALLAS ON A BUDGET" as we called it here before hahaha. -DJ MasterWeb
  15. Dee from Ra can hook that up for you - he's on this board all the time as MrVegas. In the meantime I'll email you info on VIP entry into OPM.
  16. To get on OPM's guest list, simply call 702-369-4998 and ask to be put on DJ MasterWeb's guest list. That will get you in for free and skip the line but you'll have to show up by 11pm. The only exception to that rule is if you bought a bottle and table.
  17. I heard a rumor that RA might be closing down for renovations soon. Is there any truth behind that rumor? If so, can we consider adding you to our team?
  18. No disrespect to Dee from Ra at all but if you are looking for well dressed urban and/or hispanic guys, you will definitely be spending a lot of time at OPM. If you were in town on Thursday, Ra would be THE spot. Or even Rio Thursday for the Latino party. However on the weekends, OPM holds it down for the urban scene plus it mixes nicely with the typical Vegas crowd early hours. You *may* want to check out Bikinis Sunday (Noche Latina) but that's hit or miss.
  19. If you want hip-hop and reggae, you will enjoy RA infinitely better than RAIN tomorrow (Thursday). And you will probably enjoy OPM better than any other club on Fri Sat and Sun. Pure and Body English are definitely the hottest clubs as well, however their music format and crowd are more of a mash-up scene - more rock and the hip-hop is all top 40 plus throw some house music in the mix.
  20. The two hot hip-hop spots right now are... Ra at Luxor Thursdays (Dee "Mr Vegas" from this board can help you out) OPM at Forum Shops Caesars, Fridays through Sundays ( www.o-pm.com/lv ) Hope that helps.
  21. OK to answer your question specifically, the hip-hop scene right now... Thursday: Ra at Luxor ("Mr Vegas" on this board can help you) Friday through Sunday: OPM at Caesars Forum Shops ( www.o-pm.com/lv )
  22. And "Dig Dug" opens for him - Baby's/Body English resident for nearly ten years.
  23. I agree too, but I have seen that sometimes less than one in four show up when on a guest list. Some people try to get on several lists so they can guarantee a hookup wherever they end up going. However what people don't always realize is that many venues limit how many people get on the list, so when people don't show up they could actually be hurting others that really wanted to come.
  24. You're very welcome. I'm very happy you guys came through and partied hard. And thank you for coming up on this message board and letting people know how we do. That brings value to me as a DJ and a promoter because it helps spread the good word and build up a venue that had definitely suffered growing pains in the past. I am a strong believer that word of mouth and building actual relationships is the true way to earn support for nights in this business. If there is anything I can do to help your future trips to Vegas, please hit me up anytime.
  25. Thanks for the kind words, Ed. It was nice to meet you. 1. I am sorry it took you 15 minutes to get in. My goal was 1 minute. 2. I know it was so busy that the cocktail waitresses literally had trouble getting through the crowd, but I wish she was better to you. 3. OPM's security really does do a great job. There are no fights in there and they understand the theory of kindness is not a sign of weakness if you show respect and take your job seriously. 4. The crowd. Your review of the crowd was accurate for the second half of the night. From 10 to 12 the crowd is much more mainstream. I couldn't believe 10 to 11 that night. We were once again a huge ratio of ladies and almost all white. Then as the place filled up, it became much more mixed and by 1 or 2, it had all the feel of a hip-hop spot. The djs always laugh at around 2 because we call it the mass exodus. That's the point when all the non-hip-hop-heads start heading for the doors and all the hard cores come through just as quickly and go nuts -- it's a total transition. Anyway thanks for taking the time to write the review and I'm happy you had fun even with the diverse crowd. Respect, DJ MasterWeb
